Michelin & James Beard-recognized Chef Ricardo Zarate has opened The Hummingbird Ceviche House featuring the Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian) cuisine he’s best known for. In a charming space with a turquoise-quartz bar, The Hummingbird serves an irresistible bill of fare focused on fresh seafood prepared using traditional Nikkei techniques elevated by California influences. The Los Angeles Times' Laurie Ochoa wrote: "...the service is caring and the food, including an aji amarillo hummus flatbread and sesame-leaf-wrapped shrimp dumplings with tiger's milk aioli, is inventive and delicious. And...the Hummingbird is affordable." Diners delight in Nikkei hand rolls, delectable ceviches, small bites, hot dishes, desserts and house-made Chicha-Morada drinks. Worth every bite! Prefix menu gets you a little bit of everything and that was amazing. Definitely order the shrimp dumplings

One of my favorite restaurants in LA. I e come here three times in 2 months and each time I leave even more surprised with the amazing flavors and friendly service.

The staff was excellent, friendly, and attentive. The food was original and outstanding. We had the tasting menu and were not disappointed by any. My favorite was the scallop ceviche and the desserts were worth saving room for.

You can BYOB! Wish we had known this ahead of time, but the meal was outstanding, especially the scallop hand roll, the purple corn iced tea and the picarones for dessert. The service was friendly with just a few small delays because they were training new servers that night, but not a problem at all. Ambiance was lively and energetic. Highly recommend this place, we'll be coming back for sure.
