THE HOUSE is a historic oasis where people can eat, drink and celebrate day or night in true Florida Riviera style. Located directly on the New River referred to as the Venice of America, in the heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. While this is not a destination gourmet find, the food quality was fine. The service and ambiance in this historic, charming house was terrific. This is a top choice for pre or post theater at the Broward Center.

A wonderful establishment on the water. Everyone was kind and the service was superb. Christina, our server, has a wonderful personality, deep knowledge of the menu, and provided excellent service. The food is delicious—the crispy brussel sprouts small plate offered a nice balance of sweet and savory and the snapper filet was perfectly cooked. I also recommend the asparagus small plate. Absolutely recommend this dining experience!

This landmark restaurant has been beautifully restored . Our High Tea experience was quite pleasant. No brewed tea in pots with pretty “cozies “. but plenty of choices of flavors in tea bags. Will definitely go back to try brunch next time .

This may be our fourth time we have been here . we love the area and the location of this restaurant and the service was excellent from Mateos. But they always seem to be out of several things on their menu every time we go there which is a disappointment. They offer a prefix menu but many of the choices on the menu are not available. they’re always out of the same dessert every time we come. take it off the menu if you don’t have it.

Waited OVER an hour for food when highlighted in Reservation that we were go to a show at the Theatre. One entree was brought out and others over 10 minutes later! Awful service. Manager apologized and did nothing to compensate for their unacceptable service

Disorganized. After 50 mins all we had on the table still was water and a drink. We were ready to order our apps when we sat down but server wouldn’t let us order. Hostess was confused from start. Maybe a bad night. Would try again as the food was promising once we finally got it.

We had a table at 6:45 to catch an 8:00 show … and told the server about the show. We ordered at 7:00. The first course salad arrived at 7:40. My wine was served in a plastic Dixie cup. Our meal arrived at 8:10. The steak was coated in butter when we had ordered it without any. The server and manager explained they were sorry, but that they were servicing a large event at the time and it couldn’t be helped. Suffice it to say, it was not a fine or even good dining experience. At $50 for a 6 ounce steak the prep, taste, and experience should be stellar. This restaurant doesn’t understand what it is, or takes, to be in a service industry. Stay away. There are other places with ambience that get it.

Went for a birthday celebration - we were so excited to order their brunch board! There were no regrets. The board had enough food to feed an army and at that price can't be matched. And each item (6 of them) were exceptional.
