The Hoffman House restaurant, in the scenic Hudson Valley, opened for business in June of 1977. The building is a fine example of Early American Dutch rubble architecture featuring wide planked random width board floors, a fire place in each of the main rooms and many small multi-level rooms.

The Hoffman House is located at the corner of the historic Stockade district in Kingston NY, and once served as fortification and a lookout. Today the Hoffman House serves a continental fare, featuring steaks, fresh seafood, pasta specialties and homemade artisan desserts. An open-air, beautifully landscaped garden patio, enhances outdoor dining in the summer, while you can cozy up next to one of our three large stone fireplaces in the winter.

Our server was superb, attentive and gracious. My salmon entree was very nicely presented and delicious. The steak special was also a hit… done perfectly. The quaint atmosphere was inviting. We ate inside and A/C was on at comfortable level.

There was one major problem: They charged for soda refills! Unconscionable! Had we known we would not have had refills. That added up quickly. I am very disappointed.

We had a very pleasant dinner on a Wednesday evening. Food was very good. Service was cheerful and good, though the restaurant was very busy so drinks came slowly. We also enjoyed seeing inside the interesting colonial era building. Next time we are in Kingston, we will eat a meal here.

The Hoffman House is a special place---a cozy, historic house with intimate rooms, lovely outdoor eating spaces, including a covered patio---with delicious food and great service. The bacon and brussel sprout omelet special that I had there the other day was a wonderful surprise, as are all of their specials and regular items on the menu. Enjoy!

It was my first time at the Hoffman House, meetng two colleagues for lunch. We were all driving from over an hour away each. The atmosphere of the late 1600s building and decor was perfect given our interest in historic preservation. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was great. I look forward to going back soon.
