The "New" Hobbit Restaurant is open!
Owner Matt McKinney invites you to a fine dining experience in a remodeled 1930's farmhouse.
Several different dining rooms, with their own personalities, enhance the natural feel of the restaurant. All three floors are available for dining, even our Wine Cellar!
Our six course prix fixe menu is $150.00 per person, an 18% gratuity and tax will be added to your dinner tab.

It was a rainy night. We were met at the door by several members of staff, who handled everyone's coats and hats efficiently. This staff is excellent on every visit, and tonight was no exception. Do you avoid dining out on Valentine's day or near the 14th? Are the restuarants generally overburdened? Forget about that and dine at the Hobbit. Their routine for Valentine's day, while offering a slightly different menu, remains the same. They are not overwhelmed, because they only handle as many people as will attend one seating. The experience is preceded by a cocktail hour - then to table at 7 p.m. An amuse bouche of "three perfect bites", which are accompanied by a complimentary glass of champagne. The opening this time was a Hamachi crudo, that was plated perfectly, and delivered a wonderful amalgam of green apple, cucumber, tangerine and a tarragon oil opening. The second course, a crepe a la duck confit, worried my partner who does not favor duck. She loved the crepe and the duck confit! Very smooth and subtle. My filet with a bone marrow bordelaise was perfect, rare, as I love good beef. We accompanied our meal with an excellent 2005 Bordeau from Pauillac purchased from the well stocked wine cellar. The service was impeccable, and the entire serving staff assisted at one time or another to insure prompt service without hovering. I have been here many times, and you cannot go wrong dining at the Hobbit on any occasion.

Had a great time celebrating my husbands birthday! Good & service were excellent! We went early and enjoyed cocktails in the wine cellar, so fun!!

A True Gem in Orange County! My husband and I dined at The Hobbit Restaurant last week for the first time since the new ownership, and it was an amazing experience! The remodeling is beautiful, and the wine cellar is absolutely stunning. This place is perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. The food was excellent, The duck confit blew my mind! It’s rare to find a French-inspired fine dining restaurant in Orange County, and this one is truly special. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a beautiful young lady who made us feel important. Matthew, the new owner, personally came to our table, recognized us, and was so friendly. I highly recommend this place! Good luck to Matthew and the new team—you’re doing an excellent job! We will definitely be back.

The Hobbit is a wonderfully crafted dining experience. The food was unique and exceptional, the atmosphere cheery yet quiet enough for great conversation. The wine cellar is top notch and the the best part... the service was unparalleled. The staff was incredibly thoughtful, going above and beyond at every turn. Definitely a night to remember.

One of most superb dining experiences to date. The restaurant's tranquil and sophisticated atmosphere, impeccable service, and culinary excellence are at par with many 2-michelin star restaurants. The chef and sommelier make for a formidable taste experience team--presenting one of the most dynamic and pleasing food/wine pairings I've ever encountered. There wasn't a single moment that I felt the experience was drawn out, exaggerated, lacking, incomplete, and or exorbitant. The few one-star reviews of the restaurant are likely from those with unsophisticated palates, persons who couldn't "afford" to eat there and were solely focused on justifying such a large dining expenditure, and those without the intelligence to realize that rescheduling multiple times would result in a ban. Will certainly be dining here again.

Some of the dishes were wonderful some of them were overcooked. I ordered mahi-mahi my husband beef Wellington. The beef Wellington was lovely. The fish was overcooked. Plating was done well. service could have been better. I ordered sparkling water and asked to have it put on the table, instead they put it in a champagne tower. It was nice to have it chilled but had to wait for a server to come by every so often to serve. I am willing to give this restaurant one more try.

Wonderful experience... You must do it at least once! The chefs dishes are so creative and fresh. Everything was so delicious! Service was world class. This was a perfect special Birthday dinner. Thank you!

This was an awesome, unique experience. The building itself is unassuming but once you're inside it's fun seeing how this home was transformed into a fine dining restaurant. The staff was extremely attentive, polite, and accommodating. The transformation of specific rooms to house couples, quads and large parties was unique and worked well. The food was incredibly well prepared and the flavor was incredible. I highly recommend it as a unique dining experience for an intimate birthday or special occasion celebration.
