The Hive is situated on the harbour edge of the picturesque Georgian town of Aberaeron. Our aim is to offer a flexible, relaxed and accessible dining area where everybody is welcome.
The Hive is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our main menu offers a range of small plates through to burgers, pies and fresh fish dishes featuring ingredients from Welsh producers.

No dogs indoors (except guide dogs)

Lovely food though the beef burger was too sweet for our liking. Chicken burger was delicious, lovely and light. I understand work is being carried out on the sea defences but I do feel that outside could have been made to look better. The half finished mural is not a good look. However the aesthetics does not mar the food. We would definitely visit again

Food was ok, not great value for money, service was not very attentive. £100 for 1 course with a few drinks for 4 people so not cheap, perhaps expected more. The night before we paid £120 in a nearby bistro for 2 courses for 4 people with drinks and it was superb! so perhaps our expectations were too high!

The Harbourmaster has long been our go-to restaurant in Aberaeron - fantastic location, great food and refreshments, reasonable value. There's more competition in town now, but we hope the Harbourmaster (which started it all) can keep its place as our perennial favourite spot.

Good options for gluten-free. Nice burgers and the flatbreads are great, too. Friendly service.

We were disappointed by the Hive. There’s a lot of construction work happening for the new flood wall so a Terrace table wasn’t a great view but was totally suitable for dogs. Unfortunately the food wasn’t great. We ordered a smoked salmon/avo bagel and were given an English muffin. We asked for crispy bacon and it wasn’t. All eggs were cooked hard on all dishes. Our waitress didn’t come back out so we couldn’t ask for replacements. A disappointing experience as we had been recommended to come here by a friend in London

On our short break away in Aberaeron, we chose to eat at The Hive. Upon arrival we were informed that our table was upstairs, this was a problem for us as my mother-in-law has difficulty with stairs. The members of staff were happy to seat us downstairs instead, but the toilets were upstairs so she would’ve had to have gone up anyway. Staff were friendly and pleasant. The food on the other hand was a different story!! I found the prices were extremely high for what was on offer, especially considering the portion sizes of each meal. I was keen to try the BBQ belly pork bao buns but was left unsatisfied when the dish arrived with the belly pork being all fat with solid cooked skin. It was so tough I was unable to cut it. The kids meals were also very expensive, with a small pizza being £7 and separate chips (which did not come with the meal) for an extra £6. Fish bites - 4 tiny pieces and a handful (maybe 15) chips. Our bill was over £100 with 4 adult & 2 children’s meals. Considering the expense and quality of the food, we will not be visiting this restaurant again nor recommending it to anyone. Very disappointed ☹️

Superb food, with very friendly and attentive staff. Very accommodating of my daughters SEND needs. Even gave her a candle in her ice cream for her birthday. Staff went above and beyond, even though it was busy. Will definitely visit again
