Located in the heart of Lymington, The Highstreet Kitchen offers a relaxed dining experience focusing primarily on local sustainable food, working with dedicated local farmers and producers. The restaurant has been a dream for Gavin Barnes for over a decade and it has now become a shared vision for the whole team.

A superb experience overall. A very short - but very tempting - seasonal menu. The dishes were all beautifully presented, with generous portion sizes and all tasted delicious. Great flavour and texture combinations. My guest described the passionfruit soufflé as “the best dessert I have ever eaten.” It really was sublime!

Best meal we have eaten in a very long table. Thank you to chef and the team. Very welcoming and friendly front of house staff. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Shame we don’t live locally - if we did we would certainly be frequent visitors.

Not only is it the best restaurant In Lymington, but serves the best Sunday roast in the New Forest!

Has the potential to be a good restaurant. Nice Pescatarian/ veggie options. However the bisque for the fish soup did not taste homemade (apologies if I’m wrong!) and the leek au gratin was overwhelmingly over-salted, almost inedible (however we usually find U.K. restaurants over salt to some extent). Quite pricey for 1 starter and 2 mains with a mandatory, rather than optional gratuity…. Unfortunately we would not rush to return.

Delicious food. We had the pork belly, sea bream starters, and then the rib eye steak for our entree.

I came across the restaurant by chance, I booked the day before I was going. I had a thoroughly pleasant evening the food and wine were excellent, staff very efficient and friendly. I spoke to the chef by chance as I was leaving and thanked him for my meal he said they source local produce and are looking at ways to promote themselves more. I will definitely book again when in the area.
