Situated in the historic village of Aylesford, The Hengist is a modern restaurant and bar, a short walk from the river's edge.

The 16th Century building stands with original features, offering a perfect balance of elegance, heritage and modernity all surrounded by manicured gardens.

The Hengist offers a range of dining options including a casual dining option on the ground floor and two more formal dining rooms upstairs along with outside terrace dining in our gardens.

We offer seasonal 'a la carte and 'set' menus along with a 'Sunday lunch' menu. All of our dishes are freshly made to order with locally sourced ingredients.

First visit under the new ownership. The steak night was a great first experience. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The steak was cooked to perfection and we were very happy with the wine choice offered. We are lucky enough to be within walking distance and will definitely become regulars

I had a mixed roast and it turned was really good. We were served by Tina who was warm, friendly, helpful and chatted with us. The restaurant was quite dark, a bit difficult to read the menu, but set a good atmosphere. It was our first visit and we will definitely go back.

Booking online was easy and the restaurant being local to us is a bonus. When we arrived we were given the choice of downstairs where there was a female singer or upstairs if we preferred a quieter area. We chose to go with the singer who was great. Sunday lunch was lovely, a great portion size and very delicious. The service was great, all the staff seem relaxed and happy so all in all a wonderful lunch was had. We will be back.

Fantastic atmosphere and service was exceptional. A really warm welcome and no waiting. Cocktails were amazing I just wish I could have had more !

The singer was too loud, we had to shout at each other to be heard. The food was bland and not even pub standard. Very limited menu, may as well just serve cocktails and canapés.

Super friendly place. Our toddler had a great time. Roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese were top tier.
