The Hawthorn is a Georgian gem in the heart of Haworth, packed full of period features offering a relaxed environment to unwind with friends and family. This warm and appealing gastropub has been renovated throughout to showcase an array of local antiques including a stunning array of Barraclough clocks, homage to John Barraclough himself, Clockmaker to the Brontes, who used to live in this very building in the Georgian era.

We serve only food made using the freshest seasonal British produce and our menu changes through the weeks to reflect this.

We have a custom-made Josper charcoal grill which is the hottest indoor grill available and used by the best restaurants in the country. Cooking on the Josper ensures none of the natural moisture or flavour escapes from the food, whilst at the same time adding the distinct chargrilled taste.

An outstanding restaurant at every level and the Sunday lunches are just brilliant. Food, drink, service and ambience are always second to none. It is a real gem.

In general we had a lovely meal and staff very friendly and helpful. Only disappointment was my husband’s sirloin steak was overcooked so didn’t enjoy as much as he’d hoped.

Disappointing overall. I have visited the Haworth previously and had a totally different experience. I was seated in what was the through fare for anybody entering the restaurant, not the cosy intimate dining I had previously. The main was of a good standard but nothing to make me want to return. Desert was a rhubarb and apple crumble, not your typical crumble but crumbled biscuit chunks on a sour fruit base. The ginger ice cream that came with the crumble was bland. Overall it was very disappointing. If you are to eat there I would suggest you ask the waiting staff to describe the menu so you know what you are ordering. I felt like I was eating in a cafe, not a leisurely enjoyable meal at all.

Staff were brilliant - couldnt do enough for us. Food was sublime - so tasty! Ambience was cosy and comfortable - loved the candles. Could not fault! We will be back :-)

As we entered the doorway a young lady loudly asked from the bar if we had a table booked and swiftly taken to our table. The server was fast speaking and didn’t always wait to hear our response a slower pace from her we would have appreciated she was very knowledgeable. Although attentive , our food came quickly and the Pork Cheek Starter was beautiful whilst my husband had the sourdough with butter ( prefers good olive oil ) he said was nice . Mains : my husband had the Chicken which he enjoyed but not the garlic salt that seemed to be on his chips. I decided on another starter of Fig, nice but lacked a dressing so a side of honey drizzled on top helped . A dessert of Rhubarb & Apple Crumble was just fair but the Ginger Ice Cream amazing and went down well with a small Disarrono liqueur . Our bill came we guessed the amount around £100 which was correct but asked the £1.00 charity donation to be removed . We had a pleasant evening for our anniversary and thank you for the complementary glass of fizz, we will come again.

Lovely restaurant with great ambience. Food really good. Service good. Prices comparable to similar restaurants. Will definitely go again.

Its reputation is now unfortunately out which means Sundays are a little hard to come by unless plan months ahead…but they deserve the recognition. Its is genuinely the best Sunday lunch in the UK (and that beats some fantastic local competition from Michelin establishments …which are also fantastic…but the hawthorn pips angel at hetton, star at harome, abbey inn bland, Freemasons wiswell and others. We’re blessed up north with great pubs/restaurants and we love the fact the Hawthorn is on our doorstep!

Excellent service and beautiful food. Table for 2 by the window upstairs was perfect for us. Sunday Roast and dessert amongst the best we have had.
