Mark, Chloe and their friendly young team welcome you to The Hampshire Bowman in Dundridge, a traditional country free-house serving real ales, real ciders and real food all year round.

We’re dog friendly and mobile phone unfriendly. The Hampshire Bowman is a great unspoilt country pub with a huge garden. Real ale and traditional cider are our specialty – we’ve been in the CAMRA good beer guide for over 30 years!

PLEASE NOTE - We don't take bookings for our HUGE garden, please just turn up if you want to sit outside!

Seven of us ate and drank on a soggy day. The service was very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, home cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and will return. Also, Freya the pub dog was adorable.

My only criticism is that they ran out of the lamb and had no Yorkshire puddings.

I am sorry we had run out of lamb. It ended up being our busiest day of the year, and by some margin. Wont happen again! Hopefully you had a great experience anyway!

One of my favourite pubs. Shame it’s soon to be closing. Only complaint I have is that over the past few months every time I go the prices have increased yet again. I visit quite often and every single time the prices have gone up again.

Yes we are leaving. One of the reasons is that we are struggling to make a living. Covid, inflation, change in habits. The other problem is that we slug our guts out 7 days a week all year long for little genuine recognition. People say we're their favourite pub, but they wont put their money where their mouth is. We are one of the cheapest pubs around - if you dont include weatherspoons. And yes, I would like to walk away with as much for my young family as I can, and, after 18 years of service here I am not ashamed of that. Maybe you can carry that shame for me. Only got 6 weeks left. Cant wait to have a job where I dont have to put up with people that just dont understand how the world works.

Super good, generous portions, nice relaxed setting, lovely friendly staff and fantastic beer. Probably the best, traditional pub I’ve been in for ages. Even the pub dog, Freya, was excellent - welcoming and friendly.

Super Sunday roasts at this traditional Hampshire pub - all home cooked, plenty of veggies and great Yorkshire puds!

Great pub in lovely setting. Nice big well kept garden with swings, great food. If you don’t like dogs maybe try something else. But there was a whole pack when we went and they were all well behaved. My kids were running around the garden with them for ages. Really enjoyed it, we’ll be going back. 👍

The Hampshire Bowman is the perfect example of an English country pub. The pub itself is beautiful, and has a sprawling well maintained garden. To top it all the food was beautiful (and always is). Try to pub. If its not a sunny day, then make sure you book a table if you are going to eat.

We were a group of 16 and were all seated together despite me saying I understood if we had to be split up. Wait for food was about 90mins but we were informed that on ordering. We could not fault the food, portion size or the staff. We had a wonderful afternoon and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.
