The Grounds of the City, the second outpost from the team behind The Grounds of Alexandria, is bringing soul back to the CBD with old-school service and charm. Located in the heart of the CBD and bustling with activity, The Grounds of the City is tailor-made for a marvellous time; no matter the occasion. Start your day right as our baristas expertly serve up The Grounds house-roasted espresso and filter coffees, or end it in the best possible way and cosy in with our selection of cocktails and a dinner menu that features something for everyone. You’ll find our coffee sommelier at The Barista’s Bar ready to take you through a tailored coffee experience, and our tea lady roaming the room with a trolley adorned with fresh coffee, our selection of ethically sourced teas and cakes.

Tables are so closely seated that it’s hard to edge your way to be seated in the booth and there’s no privacy. Not recommended for a meeting

This little gem never fails to impress. Lovely staff well presented in a smart uniform offer helpful and polite service. The food is fabulous too. Great attention to detail on the juices / drinks. It can be noisy but that adds to the buzz.

It was a pleasant experience at the Grounds in the City. Very cosy and the booths helped with the otherwise noisy restaurant. My Waygu Beef sandwich was good but the meat was a little tough. Portions for some people in our party were a little small for the price. Service was excellent.

Second time I’ve been to the grounds city. And loved it just as much as the first time! Service was great and food was super yummy! Looking forward to my next visit already :)

The venue was extremely noisy, with a disinterested rather flippant waiter. The food was extremely average & the chai latte cold. Had to request a bottle of water x3. Very disappointing!!!!

We loved our visit to grounds of the city!! What an absolute vibe!!! The staff were so lovely, we booked online which I strongly suggest. We got straight in, service was fast, our coffees and food came out fast and our food was amazing!! We got the French toast and the mortadella toastie … I’ll be dreaming about that for a while!! Can’t recommend these guys enough!

The table we were provided was extremely close to the kitchen to the extent that we felt we were part of that area. We were in a small space and the table had to be physically moved to allow us to sit without impacting on the diners on the table behind us, no privacy in our conversation and we appeared to be in the thorough fare of staff taking meals to diners. Very disappointed with the table option given we were there the day before and had a great dining experience.
