The Grounds of the City, the second outpost from the team behind The Grounds of Alexandria, is bringing soul back to the CBD with old-school service and charm. Located in the heart of the CBD and bustling with activity, The Grounds of the City is tailor-made for a marvellous time; no matter the occasion. Start your day right as our baristas expertly serve up The Grounds house-roasted espresso and filter coffees, or end it in the best possible way and cosy in with our selection of cocktails and a dinner menu that features something for everyone. You’ll find our coffee sommelier at The Barista’s Bar ready to take you through a tailored coffee experience, and our tea lady roaming the room with a trolley adorned with fresh coffee, our selection of ethically sourced teas and cakes.

The grounds is popular and rightly so as the food is good and there is a good variety. Last visit in the city was very noisy with slow service. The food was not as good as previous visits. I had the zucchini and spinach fritters with egg and tomato, mushrooms... simple enough but it all had the taste of bacon which spoiled it for a vegetarian. small volume as well. Not enjoyable this time. Hopefully it will improve as it has a good vibe.

Your menu looks great but the kitchen execution is both weak and inconstant. This was my fourth time here since it opened and the food has been consistently mid to bad. The price tags are inappropriate for food this poorly executed. This venue has so much going for it - the theming and art style and service and plating are all fantastic. We didn't finish three of the dishes we ordered because it straight up just wasn't nice to eat.

Waitress couldn't explain some questions we had on the dishes so best to google some of the words. Fries were also rock hard and pork chop pretty bland. We loved the booth seating and the location. Recommend this restaurant for the look and feel and location but not if you want great food.

The restaurant is amazingly themed, it is a truly marvellous place to go. The food was superb. The only issue is there is no toilet at the restaurant and you have to go in search in the shopping centre.
