The Grounds of the City, the second outpost from the team behind The Grounds of Alexandria, is bringing soul back to the CBD with old-school service and charm. Located in the heart of the CBD and bustling with activity, The Grounds of the City is tailor-made for a marvellous time; no matter the occasion. Start your day right as our baristas expertly serve up The Grounds house-roasted espresso and filter coffees, or end it in the best possible way and cosy in with our selection of cocktails and a dinner menu that features something for everyone. You’ll find our coffee sommelier at The Barista’s Bar ready to take you through a tailored coffee experience, and our tea lady roaming the room with a trolley adorned with fresh coffee, our selection of ethically sourced teas and cakes.

Food was fine. Ordered a coffee takeaway at the end of the meal, waiting 10 minutes then paid the bill told the coffee was coming, waited another 15 minutes and still nothing - no staff stopped to check in. Ended up leaving without the coffee that had already been paid for.

The service was absolutely fantastic, the food was top notch, delicious and fast. We left bloated from how much we are because everything was so good. We went for breakfast, had some margs which was a perfect drink to start our day, my friend had the pancakes which looked so very fluffy and I have the mortadella sandwich which was so flavourful. We couldn't help ourselves to get some pastries as well which were divine and we even took home a grounds cake for two for my birthday which was so tasty. Absolutely in love with this cafe, when I'm back in Sydney, we'll be coming back

Such a quaint and unique breakfast spot right in the heart of the city! We had three of their breakfast dishes and each was fantastic.

Tables are so closely seated that it’s hard to edge your way to be seated in the booth and there’s no privacy. Not recommended for a meeting

This little gem never fails to impress. Lovely staff well presented in a smart uniform offer helpful and polite service. The food is fabulous too. Great attention to detail on the juices / drinks. It can be noisy but that adds to the buzz.

It was a pleasant experience at the Grounds in the City. Very cosy and the booths helped with the otherwise noisy restaurant. My Waygu Beef sandwich was good but the meat was a little tough. Portions for some people in our party were a little small for the price. Service was excellent.
