Taking hospitality back to its roots with a warm welcome from our genuinely friendly team breathing new life back into the heart of the community.
The menu will offer daily, hyper-seasonal specials, and plenty of British game, meat and fish. Executive chef and owner, Jamie Dobbin is passionate about local sourcing and traditional dishes, such as Half dozen Porthilly rock oysters with shallot dressing, Brixham King scallops with burnt butter cauliflower and caviar or Portland hogget Shepherd’s pie with grilled cutlet.
Serious meat lovers can expect 45 day aged native and rare breed steak on offer as well as a hero dish of Beef Wellington for two. Fish is of course wild, sustainable, and British, sourced from day boats on the South coast with the daily catch delivered straight to the door in a matter of hours. There is a handsome bar menu too, and as always, Sunday roasts are a big fixture on the menu every week.

It’s a really welcoming pub/restaurant and the staff try very hard to please. The food was good but it grates a bit that so many items are extra - we had the chateaubriand which was perfectly nice but just came with chips and some watercress; the sauce, which it needed, was probably extra but was not offered to us when our order was taken. Would definitely go back but the menu does need some thought so a main course can be enjoyed without having to add extras.

Arrived early and taken to a lovely table at the back Attentive service but not over the top Food delicious offered water and bread for the table then starters Burata and whitebait both spot on, had a roast which was bottomless sides which was also fantastic - extra cauliflower cheese! Desserts were also good especially the summer cheesecake Gave a well deserved tip and will be back

Good value but unfortunately my duck was under cooked but my partners chicken was delicious. I’d always give someone another chance so I’ll be back

We chose the Greyhound because it was recommended by a friend but what a disappointment. Whilst the food was very good the service left a lot to be desired. We had to ask three times where our wine was. It eventually arrived when we had nearly finished our main course! The half a bitter never turned up at all… it was also very noisy and it was difficult to hear one another. The child screaming didn’t help and the parents didn’t appear to make any attempt to placate him. However, the manager did knock the price of the first round of drinks off the bill which went some way towards an apology. Sadly, needless to say we will not be rushing back.

Amazing food and service as always. This time we sat in the garden outside as the weather was lovely and it was magical. We will be back very soon. The burger was one of the best I ever had.
