Short version: Very long wait for food, which was a tad expensive when we ordered but definitely cold and overpriced when it finally arrived. Booked for Sunday Lunch in the only area they had available, which was the “Standard” area. Turns out that’s a covered area outside which, although dry, is a bit cold and drafty. It definitely could have been made clearer on OpenTable. We were shown to the table, but given no menus until we flagged down a member of staff on one of their rare incursion into the “Standard” area. We were surrounded by people complaining about either how long they’d been waiting for food, having no cutlery, or missing drinks. So the signs were definitely there. When we eventually managed to order, the drinks took 20 minutes to appear and it was a full HOUR until the food arrived. I was starting to fear for my life as the kids were growing cannibalistic by this point. The brief joy of the food arriving was exactly that, brief. It was all cold. Waiting an hour for cold food is not my perfect Sunday. They did offer to replace them but we didn’t have another hour to spare. They also forgot the sides, which turned up as a pseudo-second course as we were finishing the mains, and this seemed a common complaint on most of the tables around us. That said, at least they were hot. Although if I described the vegetables as “al dente” it would have been very generous. Crunchy. In summary, it was a disaster. I will say the cold food was actually quite tasty although the roast beef took some chewing (and quite a few on our table gave up). I have had nicer meals in there on quieter days but won’t go back for Sunday Lunch again, as the kitchen clearly can’t cope with volume of tables they now have.

We sincerely apologise that your experience today was not up to standard. It was a super busy lunch and your order into the kitchen was one of our last tickets at the peak however this should have been communicated to you and advised at the time of ordering. We are currently reviewing our booking descriptions and our Terrace area is due to be fully enclosed within the next month now that its getting a little chillier as it really is a lovely place to dine. We do hope you will come and join us again as your custom is truly appreciated.

Sunday lunch was just too expensive! 2 beers, 1 tonic, 2 main courses ( no starter and no dessert), packet of crisps and a very small bowl of popcorn £83!! Food good though and staff seemed pressured. It took 50 minutes from food order to delivery.

We sadly had a couple of people who were ill today and with unexpected sunshine we were busier than anticipated. Nice venue but ultimately a bit disappointing on the food front. Roast beef is actually just a panned sirloin steak, not really living up to the 'roast' name. Ok service and ambience

Many thanks for leaving your review, it was greatly appreciated - all constructive feedback is well received and passed onto the team. Sadly on this occasion during a very busy lunch we ran out of beef and rather than disappoint our chef cut a steak for you. Our sincere apologies, we should have let you know and offered a different roast option for you of pork or chicken. We do hope that you choose to join us again as roasts really are the highlight of the week.

Service: friendly, prompt and willing but very inexperienced. Cooking: generally excellent (smoked salmon starter, roast chicken and sea bass mains then cheesecake and ice cream desserts). Atmosphere: very “pubby” with no separate dining area (except outside) and no pre-allocated tables (in spite of strict pre-booking conditions). At more than £50/head (without wine) it felt expensive; reasonable for the quality of the food perhaps but a lot for the pub-like ambience.

The staff were warm and friendly. The food was of a very high standard, we had a delicious meal.

This was the first time that we had eaten at The Green Man. A booking of 5. Very impressed. Staff were attentive, service fantastic, food was delicious and we had a lovely evening. We were not rushed even though there was a booking after us. Definitely recommend and will be making a return visit.

We had a wonderful Sunday roast. However, I did inform them that my friend was gluten and dairy free proir to atending, and they didn't have any gluten free gravy nor a dessert.

The service was friendly and efficient. I chose the vegan wellington and didn't like the filling which had a solid texture. The tables were well spaced and we sat in a quiet location.
