Our kitchen team work closely with local fishermen and butchers in Wells-next-the-Sea and around North Norfolk, taking real delight in producing locally-sourced, consistently fresh and delicious meals. The beef cattle fattened on salt marshes belonging to ancient estates and the creels of lobster and baskets of crab brought straight up from the quay have a special unbeatable flavour.

Our lunch and dinner menus alter seasonally to take advantage of the fantastic harvests of local produce, with vegetarian & vegan options always available.

We had booked the festive menu many months in advance, assumed the table would be dressed for Christmas but not a sign😢We were offered food from the main menu, they seemed to have no idea about our booking! It was corrected but the vegetables were really undercooked, on the verge of raw! and very bland! We then chose our desserts, 7 out of 8 in our group chose the orange and vanilla crème brûlée with gingerbread only to be told that we needed to re-select as they were in the fridge setting🤷‍♀️ We did re-select NOTHING! The bill came in a complicated format that none of us could understand (it was advertised as 2 courses for £28, 3 for £34) with a 10% service charge whacked on the top and seemingly we’d been overcharged anyway! We had the bill corrected and the service charge removed as we were disappointed with the experience. Won’t be returning! 😡

Because the Globe was so popular, we were very excited about eating there. Unfortunately, they don’t have any dedicated parking, so the first challenge was parking the car somewhere close when we arrived. Having achieved that (finally), we entered and found we had to go to the back room for our meals. We both ordered the fish and chips, a great favourite of ours and the meal was very disappointing. The fish was OK, but the tasteless frozen chips and bullet hard tasteless peas, very poor. Add to that sauces from little packets and noisy children on phones and tablets, plus dogs from adjacent tables around our legs scratching (with fleas) throughout our meal and this turned out to be a truly awful experience. The final insult was the automatic addition of a 10% service charge to our bill without any explanation - unbelievable!

We like to visit the Globe everytime we come to Wells and will be returning again next year

Maybe it was a one off as expected much more but our breakfast was not good. Bacon was burnt and served up roasted tomatoes were dried out. The avocado toast was not crushed properly or even seasoned We were sat in bar on own and forgotten about that is how felt. Very disappointed

A little disappointed as we have been here several times before and always felt l8ke a real treat Unfortunately our latest visit was just ok ,food a bit bland as was the service .It wont put us off going back though we are looking at it as it could have been us not them

Overall we had a nice occasion but a couple of menu items were unavailable and one dish when it arrived wasn’t as described ( Gammon egg and chips substituted with gammon Rosti and salad). The waitresses were very nice and attentive but overall it didn’t quite live up to our expectations .

We had placed two bookings this weekend based on our excellent experience last year when we visited wells. We only used one booking and cancelled the second and had fish and chips on the front instead. The menu was rather unappealing and veggie options limited. The food was OK but for what we had too expensive. I had a slab of dry tray baked ginger cake with a scoop of ice cream which was poor. Last year the menu was much more exciting and creative and we loved it. Very disappointed.
