We had a lovely meal at The George during Seattle Restaurant Week. My partner and I headed downtown for a day date, and the service and food were both outstanding! It was probably more food than we needed for lunch (we usually eat lighter during the day), but it was well worth it. I'm glad we came!

Both my husband and I were not impressed with the service at The George. The waitress was not friendly at all, did not smile, did not thank us for coming in. She refilled my water glass and spilled quite a lot of water on the booth seat I was sitting on and the floor and did not wipe it up. Then the main course was brought to the table when our soup course was still in front of us. You would think that at a high end restaurant of this sort that the soup dishes would have been removed before the main was brought to the table but this server stood and waited for my husband and I to pick up and remove the soup dishes so he could put the plates he was carrying down in of us. Our thoughts were where has the training for exquisite etiquette gone? What had happened to a server asking how your meal is?....can I get you anything else?...I'm so sorry I spilled, I will get someone to clean this up,,,,checking to see if the timing is ready to bring out the next course....saying thank you for coming in. So many of the little niceties that make a person choose to come in to a higher end restaurant such as The George.

We had an incredible experience at The George during Seattle Restaurant Week! From the elegant ambiance to the meticulously prepared dishes, every detail contributed to an unforgettable evening. Our server, Andrew, was phenomenal—attentive, personable, and knowledgeable, enhancing our meal with his fantastic service. The food was delicious, showcasing rich flavors and creative presentation, making every dish a delight. The George has become one of our absolute favorite restaurants in Seattle. We’re already looking forward to our holiday tea scheduled here on December 6th, and we’ll definitely request Andrew again. If you’re seeking a wonderful dining experience, The George is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Well prepared dishes to satiate the palate in an excellent venue with art deco and detailed styling. Gastronomic over healthy — a fun indulgence. Very good service and attentive staff.

Our server, Bertram, was so wonderful and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The bartenders make yummy cocktails, however it wasn’t busy enough for them to be as backed up as they were. That’s the good. The bad: All of the requests I added to my reservation were completely ignored. I had asked for a better table & champagne to be at the table on arrival, as we were celebrating a special occasion. None of that was done, we got a table right by the door that left me feeling exposed and easily ignored. The food left us wondering if the chef that created the menu had moved onto a new project and a new head chef wasn’t able to uphold the standards we were expecting. It all needed salt, the beet salad was overwhelmed by the smoky flavor (liquid smoke maybe?). They forgot the crab claws for the crab dip and you could barely taste the crab or artichoke over the cheese & cream. Crostinis were too hard, needed a bit of softness in the middle. After learning they had removed Chef’s cuts from the menu (still on the winter menu on their website), my husband settled for the steak frites. His steak was cooked well, but not memorable. The lobster add-on was not warm, nor was the drawn butter. My beouf burgingnon was bland and came with shredded beef instead of the beautifully prepared stew cubes I expect in the dish. (Maybe trying to stretch the meat to serve more guests with less?). Overall, we were significantly underwhelmed by our experience and would rate it a 6.5/10. We won’t be returning, especially not for a celebratory experience.
