Le George Public House est la réincarnation victorienne d'un café du XVe siècle situé à l'angle des rues Strand Street et Fleet Street, directement en face de la Cour royale de justice à l'architecture spectaculaire et à 10 minutes de marche du West End. À l'automne 2014, le bar du rez-de-chaussée et la salle à manger du George installée au premier étage, ont fait l'objet d'importants travaux de rénovation. Cet établissement a notamment créé le restaurant élégant et sophistiqué The Pig and Goose ainsi que la salle à manger privée Horace Walpole. Les propriétaires ont soigneusement conservé les éléments d'origine de ce pub historique et ont admirablement marqué le George Public House de leur empreinte tout en maintenant une atmosphère traditionnelle dans l'ensemble des locaux. Le restaurant flambant neuf Pig & Goose situé à l'étage du George est ouvert du lundi au samedi et propose un menu britannique moderne et alléchant, élaboré uniquement avec les meilleurs produits locaux de saison. À côté du restaurant Pig & Goose se trouve la salle à manger privée et exclusive Horace Walpole, qui offre une vue imprenable.

A mixed bag - the venue is of course a lovely old pub in a prime location so good ambience. The wine we had was good, the waiter was friendly and the pork belly sunday lunch I had was very good. However - 3 of my party ordered the roast beef and it was inedible. Very raw. We have dined (in the last 2 months) at Hawksoor, Ibai and Devonshire so we are very comfortable with rare beef, However the meat has to be very high quality to serve it so raw and this simply was not. We can understand the meat is not top quality as the menu is not expensive, however what really irritated us - and the restaurant was not busy so no kitchen pressure - was the refusal of the kitchen to cook it properly, something which would have taken a few seconds. The waiter came back with some bizarre reason from the chef - which we took to be a simple FU, im the chef and I decide. Very poor customer service (not from the waiter who was apologetic) to leave 3 people unable to eat their meal. We wont be back.

Fantastic food as always - it would be amazing if you could add a children’s roast to the kids menu, we made do splitting one between two kids, but would have been a pain with an odd number! Thanks for a great meal.

The cost was really expensive for a pub - more than £180 for 4 people with no starters, no deserts, and just a few drinks as we were eating pre theatre. The waitress was really friendly and attentive but the other staff less so. Also, the menu on the website is out of date - we actually chose this pub because it advertised some nice dishes, but these weren't available on the day. The bar staff were very matter of fact about this, and didn't seem to care all that much. I won't go again.

The food was good except the burger it was a bit dry. We liked the scotch eggs perfectly cooked. The waiter was a bit rushed to clear our drinks but overall it was good

Great Sunday roast. Kids had burgers and loved them. Service was pretty good for Britain.

I had a lovely pork Sunday roast there. The food was served quick and delicious. I keep thinking about the raspberry Panna cotta. Yum

Had visitors from abroad visiting London. Wanted traditional pub with good atmosphere. Remembered the pub from 20+ years ago when I worked in London. till great place, clean, staff were friendly and the food was good ( value not bad for central London). Had fish & chips, burgers and a pie and mash (not the east end type). All were enjoyed.
