Le George Public House est la réincarnation victorienne d'un café du XVe siècle situé à l'angle des rues Strand Street et Fleet Street, directement en face de la Cour royale de justice à l'architecture spectaculaire et à 10 minutes de marche du West End. À l'automne 2014, le bar du rez-de-chaussée et la salle à manger du George installée au premier étage, ont fait l'objet d'importants travaux de rénovation. Cet établissement a notamment créé le restaurant élégant et sophistiqué The Pig and Goose ainsi que la salle à manger privée Horace Walpole. Les propriétaires ont soigneusement conservé les éléments d'origine de ce pub historique et ont admirablement marqué le George Public House de leur empreinte tout en maintenant une atmosphère traditionnelle dans l'ensemble des locaux. Le restaurant flambant neuf Pig & Goose situé à l'étage du George est ouvert du lundi au samedi et propose un menu britannique moderne et alléchant, élaboré uniquement avec les meilleurs produits locaux de saison. À côté du restaurant Pig & Goose se trouve la salle à manger privée et exclusive Horace Walpole, qui offre une vue imprenable.

    Picked The George for a Sunday lunch after looking for reviews for a good Sunday roast in central London whilst in London on Father’s Day. It didn’t disappoint. Lovely pub & restaurant & the roast pork was lovely. A hidden gem of a pub.

    We arrived for our reservation and the restaurant was out of 2 of the main meal choices on the menu Very disappointing. The menu is small to begin with We left the restaurant! We did not get to eat there.

    Historic pub with a fantastic Sunday Roast menu. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

    The server forgot to bring us our gravy. We saw him go on his break to eat and then smoke outside... he NEVER came back in to check on us or let us pay. We had to go find someone so we could leave. The Sunday Roast was less than good and the potatoes were hard as rocks.

    I booked on Open Table and the gruff manager refused to seat us as he said that the kitchen was fully occupied with a private party upstairs. He could not have been more callous and unfriendly about the situation. When I told him I had booked with Open Table, he said that I should have booked sooner. Ridiculous and very disappointing. I won’t be going back.

    I was greeted promptly, got a very nice table. I placed my order and got my food. The fish and chips was very good, checked the traditional British meal off my list. The only problem I encountered was that I never interacted with anyone again. My plate was cleared, after 8 minutes ( I counted) I asked the server who was talking to the next table for my check. After waiting another 7 minutes I went to the bar to pay.

    The atmosphere is always brilliant and we had a fantastic table towards the back of the pub There is an excellent range of drinks available I had the fish pie which was delicious until I had a mouthful of bones When we told the bar staff they apologised and gave us a discount as well as saying they would talk to the chef so will definitely be returning as their customer service is outstanding

    Restaurant almost empty on a Saturday night. Only one waiter who did his best. Food expensive (yes it's London, but it's a pub). Had to send poorly cooked food back, when returned still not cooked properly. When we asked for desert/coffee, they had already closed the kitchen.
