Independent & proud. Since our 2016 restoration we've believed in creating good times. Being somewhere for everyone to feel at home.

From cosy pub dining, to eating alfresco on our covered, heated courtyard. A private party in our room 'upstairs' - even an overnight stay in one of seven ensuite rooms; The George makes the most comfortable of backdrops, whatever the occasion.

Find our pub & inn in the pretty village of Maulden, in the heart of the Bedfordshire countryside. Nestled on the famous Greensands Ridge Walk & a 30 minute walk to the market town of Ampthill.

Everything at The George is lovingly prepared onsite. Every dish fresh where possible & thoughtfully sourced.

    Most of our dishes is prepared lovingly on site daily by our chefs. It is important to us that what we serve is done well for you to enjoy. Our menu changes in line with the season.

    Our " UPSTAIRS " private room is a perfect place to spend with family and friends catching up. You have the room to yourselves whilst we look after you " Home from Home " Seats up to 18 comfortably, is fitted with air conditioning and has its own private wc. The room has a balcony which overlooks views of our grass area, bedrooms and the picturesque St Marys Church. To book this room please contact us to check availability. It is not suitable for wheelchair access.

    Service could be a bit quicker. Lots of staff but they manage to walk past without you being able to get their attention Our table was too close to the next one and we had to put up with a child climbing over the seats to get out from behind their table

    We had an early reservation so it was quiet. But it gradually filled up as we ate a delicious dinner staff were friendly and attentive would certainly go again hence would definitely recommend

    Excellent day ,weather glorious as was singers and food ,overall fantastic afternoon ,wished I had booked earlier to get a table outside . Inside was fine though

    Met with friend for lunch. Lunch menu was varied and food was tasty. The George is beautifully decorated so even lunch feels like a treat

    Gorgeous pub in a beautiful location with fabulous outdoor dining. Small menu but some of the dishes could be better. The sea bass in fish broth was a complete letdown. Promised amazing flavours but did not deliver at all. Need much more chilli, coriander and where was the lemongrass?? On the other hand, the ravioli was absolutely delicious!! Will visit again for sure to try out the summer menu and 100% recommend this pub to everyone.

    Really lovely welcome the moment we stepped through the door. Everyone was friendly and polite, service was good overall. It was busy but noise levels were fine for a Saturday lunchtime and not intrusive. Food was good, my friend and I both had pizza. Time to table was good and the bill was reasonable. Would definitely recommend and I will be back again, 100%.

    This place never disappoints - fun nights out - lunch - breakfast - such a great place to visit. Beautiful decor, warm welcome and fab food

    Chorizo starter was amazing, as was the flat bread and houmous. My wife's birthday, so the 2 free drinks was a nice touch.good value, will be back
