The George Hotel is a 17th Century townhouse enjoying a wonderful location nestling on the water’s edge between the castle and pier in the bustling harbor town of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.

This magnificent building is steeped in history and was once home to the most noteworthy of the Island’s Governors, Sir Robert Holmes who often entertained King Charles II.

We do not have our own parking however there is a privately owned pay and display short stay car park with 2 disabled bays to the side of the hotel which is called Pier Square.The nearest long stay is River Road, approx. 4 minute walk from the hotel. Perfectly cooked steak. Generous serving of fries. Light and not overly sweet pudding (coconut). We would come back on our next visit to the island.

Lovely restaurant, good food, excellent service, and great view. I don't understand the Ibiza beach club vibe, at lunchtime, (I understand having it in the evening) with very loud house music pumping out, which is quite off putting, particularly when you are right next to one of the speakers enjoying a family lunch.

Friendly and efficient service from greeting to departure. Great vibe, food simple but done very well. Love that The George is so dog friendly. Wherever our pups are welcomed we will go!

We went to the George for my Birthday lunch. The outside space is beautifully appointed and we had a wonderful table overlooking the solent. The staff were extremely friendly and smiley. The service was very good and the food was exceptional. We were all extremely impressed as I have known the George since I was a child - for nearly 60 years and it has obviously been through a few changes. It was a much better than I was expecting and we will definitely return.
