The George hotel is a beautiful 400 year old hotel, currently only used as a restaurant. Taken over in 2020, the restaurant is tastefully decorated, adourning wonderful photos of chepstow through the years. The menu boasts an array of fabulous dishes, from the traditional 'pub grub' with our 2 for £16 menu, to our in house dry aged Steaks, cooked to perfection by our chefs or brought out to you on our signature sizzling hot stones. On a Saturday evening, the restaurant comes alive with wonderful live music, starting off with a relaxed vibe whilst you finish off your meal, and a livelier second half to finish off your evening. Finish the week here on a sunday, where we have fast become the place to come for a sunday lunch, with rave reviews and recommendations across the board. With a vast drinks and food menu, the George is the ideal place to come, either for a relaxed lunch for two, an evening out with friends or a large family gathering.

Great reception shown straight to our table …. We took our dog with us and she was also made to feel welcome with a bowl of water then sausages later on. We went on steak night and had the tomahawk steak to share, the taste was exquisite and very good value we would definitely go back

Amazing Sunday Lunch, really enjoyed it, plenty on the plate, choice of meats, fresh & hot, staff very friendly & helpful, great selection of drinks too, very quick service.

Really lovely Sunday lunch again, we have not had a bad Sunday lunch here, service is always spot on with friendly staff

We always have a great Sunday lunch here and treat ourselves as often as we can. The value is exceptional and I always add the cauliflower cheese as extra to mine. I can really recommend their biscoff cheesecake it is so good. Had a lovely meal here with my husband. I would recommend going earlier if you don’t want it too busy and definitely book in advance. Dogs are allowed in some area of the pub too

Absolutely awesome Sunday lunch - we took the dog and sat in the dog friendly area (away from those who didn’t want to eat with furry friends). The roast was excellent, the service great and phenomenal value (2 courses for £18, or £8 for children)! Walked out from lunch for 4 with change from £100!

My husband and I love The George. Had numerous Sunday roasts. And always delicious. Booked table yesterday for us and two friends for food and drinks prior to Tom Jones concert at Chepstow Racecourse. Unfortunately not good service yesterday and food not up to the usual standard. Very busy but we waited an hour and a half for our meals and asked 3 times how much longer we could expect to wait. When they arrived they weren’t as hot as they should have been. We will return but very disappointed yesterday.

Well overall was excellent..haven’t been for a Sunday roast for a while but wot more can I say but spot in..food excellent,service excellent…food came within a reasonable time…2 courses for £18 well worth the money,will definitely be returning..well done The George..
