Stag and his team are ready and raring to welcome you to The Fountain House, a beautiful pub and restaurant overlooking Manchester Town Hall and Albert Square. Whether you’re hoping to enjoy cocktails with a leisurely lunch on our outdoor terrace, you’d like a quick bite with your pint in the bar (pooches welcome!) or you’re looking for a vibrant spot for dinner with friends, come on in, relax and enjoy! We change our menus seasonally and pride ourselves on our delicious and innovative dishes. Don’t forget, our beautiful events space is perfect for meetings and occasions, just get in touch and we’ll do the rest.

Service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food at lunch was delicious especially the pumpkin ravioli with garlic and chestnuts. We stopped by again in the evening and enjoyed a few board games while listening to live music, Great atmosphere and extensive drinks menu.

Had lunch with my friend and our chosen Sandwiches were delicious, generous in size and good value for money

Service was poor. They didn’t know where we were sat. Food mediocre - meat gristly, veg cold. Meh

Meticulous detail to the food - great value and one of the nicest Sunday roasts we have had for a long time

Reasonable burger if a little overpriced for what it was. Roast beef was the best of the three meals. Nice and tender. Pork was a little fatty but veg and potatoes were good. Great desserts. Service was slow. Food left on the pass for 5 mins. Gave up asking for drinks so went to the bar myself.

Sadly the quality of service was appalling and the manager who said his name was "John Smith" though this might be a little untrue (a colleague of the manager confirmed that his name was "Stan") clearly made it abundantly clear that he "couldn't give a sh1t" that we had waited well over an hour for our main course. Having previously been made aware that we were due at the theatre shortly the manager told us that we should leave and so we did. We had enjoyed earlier enjoyed a pleasant drink in the bar prior to making our way down to the more formal restaurant where we were greeted by a very personable Alex from whom the "manager" could learn a thing or two regarding working in the hospitality industry.

I thought this was a restaurant but in fact it’s more like a pub. When we arrived it was quiet and very nice but about 30 minutes in a wedding party arrived and it was very loud and boisterous. It was post wedding so pretty lively. The staff in the restaurant tried very hard to hold it together. Our food was nice but honestly the best bit was the team. The super delightful bar tender (blond curly hair) in particular was so kind. I forgot to ask for her name. And our waiter was terrific. N
