Stag and his team are ready and raring to welcome you to The Fountain House, a beautiful pub and restaurant overlooking Manchester Town Hall and Albert Square. Whether you’re hoping to enjoy cocktails with a leisurely lunch on our outdoor terrace, you’d like a quick bite with your pint in the bar (pooches welcome!) or you’re looking for a vibrant spot for dinner with friends, come on in, relax and enjoy! We change our menus seasonally and pride ourselves on our delicious and innovative dishes. Don’t forget, our beautiful events space is perfect for meetings and occasions, just get in touch and we’ll do the rest.

Great place to have lunch, lots of space and dog friendly. Be warned they add 12.5% service charge to your bill even for a table for two people!

1st visit. Friendly and attentive staff. The 1000 layer potato was fab and the Rabbit pie was lovely. All the food was good and reasonably priced

I made a reservation for me and 5 friends for my birthday. We were sat upstairs in the restaurant and served by one particularly unhelpful member of staff for the entire evening which was the guy working behind the bar with dark hair and tattoos. My first issues was with my drink. I ordered an espresso martini which tasted like vinegar. I returned this to the bar man and he replaced it for me but I don't think he had much experience making cocktails as the drink was mostly foam with a small amount of cocktail in the bottom. I was in a party of 6 and we kept having to ask for every single thing. The food came and he hadn't brought any cutlery so we asked for that and some salt and pepper. He then returned with a few bits of cutlery but not enough for everyone and no salt or pepper. He went back and finally retrieved everything on our third attempt of asking. The worst part was that I ordered the chicken kyiv for my main which was meant to come with green beans and instead came with kale which I don't like. I told the bar man and he very rudely said something along the lines of 'okay, so I guess we're out of green beans... Do you want me to go to Sainsbury's and get you some' and walked off chuckling to himself. There was no apology or further interaction on the topic from him. This was my first time coming to the Fountain House for what was meant to be a special occasion and ended up being a bit rubbish thanks to this gentleman. The upstairs restaurant was pretty much empty so it's not like he was rushed off his feet either.

Hi Matthew, Our sincere apologies, sounds like we completely missed the mark on this occasion and we can only hold our hands up and say sorry, we got it wrong. We'll be conducting a full investigation in house as this is nowhere near the service and standards we expect of ourselves or what we aim to deliver for our guests. Only ones there on a sunday afternoon so had cery attentive service and the food was good. Although ambiance was quite flat naturally.

Excellent food and a few things delightfully different from the norm. Loved the chicken liver profiteroles but everything was superb. Staff were lovely and friendly. Now trying to work out when we can return.

We had a really great time at the fountain house, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the food was lovely, there was a great big screen up for the football, we had a great seat with a really good view, reserving a table was easy, and to make everything even better England won! I would highly recommend this pub, it was great
