The Fountain Ashurst is a 16th Century Pub located in the beautiful village of Ashurst, West Sussex.

It is quintessentially English with flagstone flooring, low beams and plenty of cosy corners and comfortable seating.

Extremely popular all year round, you can enjoy our stunning landscaped gardens and pond area outside during the Summer months including the infamous 'beach area'. During the colder months we boast two large fireplaces in both areas of our bar for you to cosy up in and enjoy a warming beverage.

Very good but disappointed that the Seagrass bar wasn’t open. It does not give opening times for that anywhere.

Evening started well, went downhill- food took an hour to arrive! Steak was tough & 2 others didn’t like their food.

Unfortunately we arrived to no vegetarian option available and then there was over an hour wait for food. The manager did apologise as we were leaving however no discounts or free drinks were offered while we waited. The food once it arrived was nice and perfectly edible.

We were very lucky to have Seagrass, a local bluegrass band as entertainment! Made for a stunning afternoon sitting in the sun, listening to the music, and enjoying the very delicious BBQ!!!

What a wonderful country pub. We went on a Sunday and enjoyed a good old Sunday Roast, but there was also the choice of many dishes fresh from the BBQ. We even had some live music out in the garden while we sat by the pond- perfect! The staff were all incredibly friendly, helpful and gave amazing service. All round, just what the doctor ordered to make an English lady who misses living in the UK a very happy bunny.

Following a walk, we arrived for a late lunch just after 3pm. Warm welcome and shown to a table. Drinks order taken and arrived in good time. A couple of meal options were sold out, but we liked the look of the beef burger with rib from the garden BBQ. Huge serving of roast-style potatoes with burger in bun with cheese, rib (off the bone) and all the trimmings. Absolutely delicious!

Very pleasant lunch with friends. Three excellent steaks and a beautifully prepared and tasty sea bream from the 'specials'. Excellent service from two friendly young waitresses

Great shame the food was not value for money. Staff excellent but we did not get mustard or sauce we asked for. Knives could not cut the meat! No ice cream on the menu as a separate choice but beers good,

Spent a great Sunday lunchtime in the garden with The Mayberries (bluesy, R & B). Enjoyed a terrific Sunday lunch served by incredibly well-trained staff, all young and very proficient. Smiling and welcoming staff go a long way to add to the experience and the owner being visible and on top of everything going on is key. The different areas available are really inviting from the garden by the pond to the awning nearby, to the separate dining area, and the inside of the pub and the covered bar area in a separate part of the garden. The gardens themselves are glorious, well tended with really interesting plants, I think I saw a giant foxglove tree, but either way the gardens are a delight. Inside is buzzing and very quaint and there really is something for everyone. BTW there's a separate BBQ area which has a different menu from the pub, so there's a great choice of food. Whether you want to chill in the cool and quiet of the pub or be outside with more bustle, it's all here. So enjoyable.
