The Foundry Rooftop restaurant is located on the sixth floor of the AC Hotel in downtown Dayton. Inspired by the fire within foundries, the factories that produce metal castings, this wood-fired kitchen embraces the flame. Devour new takes on internally-inspired cuisine with our Loaded Potato Pizza and Ingot Crab Crakes, or our signature Foundry Reuben and Charred Meatballs. Hearty, midwestern favorites from Chef's David Belknap and Jason Findley anchor our menu like our Crispy Pork Belly and 24-Hour Chicken. And with a combination of smoked whiskeys, classic cocktails, and local beers, you’ll always have the perfect pairing of spirits to enhance the heat of your meal. We made reservations and specified for a birthday. Their pizza over was down and no one bothered to tell us until after we sat down. We sat for 10 minutes before we saw a server. So we left and had to go someplace quick because we had made the 30 minute trip for dinner.

Not a great experience- we were told when we set down that the pizza oven was broken and the credit card machine did not work. Not a great start…we were encouraged to go to the hotel lobby and get cash from the ATM. The food was just average and I received the wrong wine. I did not get the correct one until after we were done with our meal and were ready for our check. Very disappointing.

The food is absolutely the BEST in Dayton. It's full of flavor and you can tell that the food selections have been well thought out and whatever I get there from the bisque to the wood-fired pizza, it's always just uniquely delicious. The drinks are also creative and very very good. Hats off to Chef Jason!

Very serene atmosphere and beautiful views! Drinks were ok, dessert was exceptional, but if it wasn’t for the rooftop area We wouldn’t return.

We arrived for our reservation 10 minutes early and were seated at an outdoor table. We were told our server would be with us shortly. After a half hour of no service, not even waters, and many servers not taking our table, we left the restaurant. Very Disappointing! This was a Saturday night at 6:00pm and The Foundry was only maybe 60% capacity. We talked to the hostess as we left, my impression was she didn’t seem surprised.

They have a good menu and a great wine list. Our server Shelby was very nice and helpful. But they seemed overwhelmed. I had to wait for about 10 minutes after my reservation time before being sat. Also waiters kept running into our table because it was so crowded and they weren't watching where they were walking. I'll go back on a weeknight. Not a weekend, it's too busy.

We sat on the rooftop terrace. Lovely spot, very quiet on a Thursday night. I had the sea scallops and my husband had the short ribs. Both were great. We had the calamari as an appy and that was great too. We were joined by two other couples and our server, Morgan, did a wonderful job. We really enjoyed our first visit to The Foundry.

My wife and I went there for dinner on Saturday, Aug. 31. My wife had been there once before, while it was the first time for me. The food was excellent as was the service. It had a nice view, and we enjoyed watching the end of the Dragons game from the rooftop after dinner. However, they had a DJ that night playing music that was inappropriate and way too loud for a sit down restaurant--more appropriate for a nightclub or something. We had trouble conversing with each other, the waitress, and the people at the table next to us. I observed a number of couples come in and then leave after only one drink. I don't know whether this was just a one-time thing or a Saturday night thing or what. My wife did not recall this being a problem when she was there previously. Because of this, I don't know if we will go back. Too bad because everything else was great.
