AA 2 Rosette restaurant. The Forge Restaurant in Chester is one of Chester’s best restaurants with delicious food and unrivalled service. With a passion for wild, sustainable British ingredients, and a love of simple cooking over fire and charcoal. The Forge has its kitchen front and centre in the middle of this lovely, and elegant space. Incredible dry-aged beef and wild venison will be found in the maturation cabinets, awaiting their turn on the amazing forge grill, to be lovingly grilled and roasted over beech logs. Head chef Dan Regan, a passionate chef, heads up the young, vibrant team in the kitchen. Combining amazing, wild, sustainable ingredients from land and sea into sumptuous creations that form really memorable eating experiences. We focus on British ingredients, as local to Chester. Our venison, always a hugely popular part of our menus, is harvested from herds on estates that focus on improving biodiversity and deer health – a process we call Farming the Wild.

Very nice experience, a present from my son, nice staff food and venue lovely! Just found the drinks exspense, but food was comparable with other restaurants in Chester

Fantastic food, the service, and ambience were Great. It can be a bit costly, but it's a nice treat but worth it. Would recommend to go.

Fabulous food in a lovely restaurant. Staff very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Will hopefully go again soon.

Didn’t think was a great variety in starters and chose the ox tail but didn’t like the taste. The roast dinner was ok nice beef nice veg the roasties were rock hard , nice gravy only two choices for desert ginger cake or blackcurrant crème brûlée , we got one of each but didn’t like either. The crème brule was really bitter couldn’t eat it , Had bad signal in the restaurant and the waitress wanted me to Email my groupon code to her and because I couldn’t get 4g the Wi-Fi wasn’t working on my phone I had to go walk for about 5 minutes so I could get connection which stressed us out during the meal faffing about having to emailing the groupon code which I’ve never had do before.

The service was top class and the food was out of this world!!! Absolutely fine dining but not at fine dining prices - very reasonable for the quality you get. Open kitchen so you could see everything going on and the chefs were so calm and organised I would highly recommend, not rushed and waiters were very attentive without being over bearing Fantastic experience for that special occasion !!! Don’t miss out and book your table !!

The restaurant is part of the hotel (which by the way is quality) however, the seating is pretty close with little room to manoeuvre and not very comfortable. The food was OK however we had to send one of the mains back as it was too dry and poor quality. Overall disappointed and would in future stick to the restaurants around Pepper Street.

Lovely meal and restaurant our only gripe was that we were told to redeem our codes at the end of the night , come the end of night we forgot and paid our full bill instead of 20% and a free drink voucher 😢😢

We visited recently for a lovely family meal. The restaurant has a really nice design and decor, with the kitchen on full display, showing the chefs at work preparing dishes. Really friendly staff who looked after us throughout our meal. Nothing worse than waiting staff who go missing in action when you need something, not so here. The food really was pretty good, with tasty starters and snacks, and an outstanding steak. Be careful not to overdo it with the steak portion size, as the main steaks are priced by weight and a typical steak starts at 400g. E.g. a ribeye was £11 per 100g I think, but with a minimum weight of 400g you're looking at a £44 steak best case. I went for the Picanha at 227 and that was more than enough to eat with some chunky chips and creamy leak sides. Delicious food but a little pricey. £Cost us £210 for three people with a starter, main and drinks.

Lunch and cocktails. This was our third time. First time was great - 2 courses with choice of main with option of sirloin steak plus other mains or four small plates then choice of dessert. Second time less good and had to send cold food back. This time only four choices of main, no small plates even though it is stated on the website. Steak was a chewy tough bavette. Not a sirloin. No dessert. Each time has got worse and cheaper poor quality of food. Cocktails weren’t the real deal - seemed sweet with less alcohol. We won’t try again.

Went with friends for Sunday lunch and the food was amazing! We used a voucher, which made it super reasonable.
