An AA rated pub restaurant first built in the 1930s, The Foresters has a strong local fanbase and is a real favourite for relaxed celebration dining and those special nights out. A beautiful statuesque building with row upon row of immaculately clean windows, well kept plants lining the entrance and, during the summer at least, a good number of parasol shaded terrace tables, The Foresters beautiful exterior leads in to a bright and modern bar and dining room. With the interior bridging the gap between cosy old world and strikingly contemporary gives The Foresters a broad appeal – family friendly but popular with couples of all ages too. Not only highly recommended for its wide selection of beers, real ales and wines but for its regularly changing menu of gastropub style food mostly influenced by traditionally British flavours and local, seasonal produce. A perfect setting for a lingering evening meal and drinks or for a hearty lunch after a bracing walk around the local.

Always an interesting varied and original menu. Great choice of drinks. Great service They have an extremely good Chef. Always imaginative specials.

Excellent Sunday lunch for 8 of us. Superb service from 3 bright young people - they offered to get the children's meals out first, attentive when we needed them, pleasant and smiley. Good quality burgers, roast, fish n chips. Generous children's portions. Dogs welcome. Surprisingly quiet at lunchtime - I think the 4 rating should be higher and maybe that puts a few people off. Decor really nice. There are 4 spaces in front of the pub, free parking opposite and a public car park round the back. Would definitely go again.

We needed a light lunch on a cold morning and chanced uopn The Forresters after visiting Caldicott School. The owner of the restauarant could not have been more welcoming - herself a former parent at my favourite school. Thank you!

Our food was lovely and it exceeded expectations. However we chose a specials main which was described verbally by the waitress and was definitely lacking in detail. We were not given a price so surprised when we came to pay that it was £5 more than any other mains. For dessert we asked to see menu but we're told verbally there were 3 to choose from. We chose apple cake which was delicious and came with other additions on the plate none of which we had been told about. So some communication and service problems to sort out.

The restaurant provided the evening alpine Christmas menu at lunchtime as our friend (disabled after a stroke) was unable to visit in the evening. Staff went out of their way to provide a lovely experience and the ambience was warm and welcoming. Open fire a bonus and food excellent as always. We enjoyed a very relaxed time eating, drinking and catching up with all our news! Thank you to all concerned.

Great menu and service. Unfortunately, I only give it 3 stars as my husband and I found the food far too salty.
