    It’s a lovely gastro pub with the bar on the ground floor then dining rooms on the first and second floor. Our hostess was very good and served the dining room on her own. Food was good quality pub fair and traditional. All very nice and convivial.

    We waited an hour and a half for our food. When I asked where it was, the server was surprised as if he'd forgotten about it. He came back and said at least 20 minutes. We asked for our check, and he tried to charge us for everything even though we never got it. Finally paid full price for the drinks. Don't go here. Awful service, May not eat.

    We had our third girls Christmas lunch at the first floor dining room at the Footman on a busy Saturday afternoon. We all enjoyed our food but I thought my cod with chorizo and bean base was a bit on the small side for £29.00.

    Wasn’t told was sitting on a small table in the bar and not in the restaurant and could only have items from the bar menu. Very disappointed.

    Things were just clumsy and poorly executed. Perhaps the waitress was new but she cleared my friends starter plate whilst I was still eating. And immediately told us that our mains were ready and did we want them. I was still eating my starter! Then once I did finish a few minutes later she cleared other empty tables and took an age to actually clear my plate. Then the main came instantly and had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be served. The starter was good. The main (roast) was disappointing. Neither of us like parsnips or sprouts so asked them not to be served (this was done as asked), but then we ordered a side of Cauliflower Cheese to make up for the removal of the vegetable and there wasn't any left nor any other alternate vegetable option aside from the sprouts. So, it was a dull meal of turkey, carrot, potato and a cold Yorkshire pudding. The food was cooked adequately but for the price it was disappointing and we did not consider it good value for money. The lights were abruptly turned down at about 8.15 pm and the bill was brought and dumped on the table at 8.30. All in all very disappointing.

    I really like the upstairs dining room here. It’s quiet and comfortable with great service and excellent food. It’s a good choice for a business lunch or dinner.
