The Florence Arms has been an established pub in Portsmouth for decades. Refreshed and reopened in 2015 the pub offers traditional cask ales, craft beers and fine wines alongside traditional and quirky cocktails. We have a varied Gastro Pub menu available from 12pm - 9pm daily. Vegetarians, Vegans and Gluten Free catered for.

Groups, families and couples welcome. Dogs permitted in bar area, please notify us if you are bringing a dog or we may not have a suitable table on arrival.

First visit. Very impressed with quality of food and drink. Service was quick and friendly. Good choice from menu. Would definitely return.

Such a welcoming pub with brilliant food. We will be back next time we’re in Southsea.

POOR. Booked on a sunday, for OBVIOUS reasons. arrived, seated, menus given to us - only to THEN be told they’ve run out of roasts. I completely understand kitchens run out of things but if you’re a gastro pub and you run out of ROASTS on a SUNDAY. I 100% think you should let bookings know. Complete waste of time, is a shame as looked nice online.

What a little gem of a place, the food was outstanding with excellent gluten free choices. Huge portions, we would have liked a dessert but was so full up we couldn’t manage one. Beautiful restaurant with fantastic staff that made us feel very welcome.we will definitely be returning when we visit southsea again.

We booked via Open Table but the team who greeted us were not aware. We were offered 2 tables which were both away from the bar area which we wanted. The server said she’d be back to take our order but we ended up going to the bar to get drinks after 10 minutes. Our server didn’t return so we pulled a waitress over to take our food order. Our food arrived within 15 minutes however there wasn’t any cutlery on the table so we waited another couple of minutes for that to arrive. We requested sauces, seasoning and water for the table. The sauces arrived but the salt, pepper and water did not. The food was presented well and quality of produce seemed very good. For the price I’d expect to have a more attentive experience.

Breakfast was great on two of our three days there. The scrambled eggs on the last day was poor. We did eat just the one time in the evening. My burger was good but my wife's pizza was not great. If you have a wood fired pizza oven I would expect the dough to be fresh and the cheese to be mozzarella. Neither was the case.

We had a fantastic meal at the Florence Arms. I am coeliac and it is difficult to find good food that is reliable and staff that are knowledgeable and understand cross-contamination for a strict gluten free diet. Staff were attentive and provided great service. I can highly recommend!

We hit a quiet spot - Thursday lunchtime. We were virtually the only diners so the ambience was zero. Service was excellent and friendly but the food was mediocre. The music was too loud for an empty pub and imposed upon the conversation. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a gastro pub. At £45 a head including drink and service, there are places that offer better value for money.
