The Fleece overlooks the expanse of Witney’s beautiful Church Green. Loyally supported by the people of Witney we are one of the few places in town where you can sit outside on sunny days, eating, drinking, and watching the world go by.

We also have a private dining room for meetings or parties and 10 comfortable en suite bedrooms.

    Lovely Sunday lunch. We had roast beef and veggie Wellington with all the trimmings. We were even offered extra roasties and Yorkshire puddings! Great staff and lovely atmosphere.

    I was looking for a venue to celebrate my Birthday outside of Oxford. I am very fond of Witney & particularly love the area around Church Green. So The Fleece appeared to be the perfect venue . I wasn’t disappointed. We were fortunate in so much as it was a glorious sunny day & we were able to have pre lunch drinks outside overlooking the green. There were six of us and we were impressed by the friendliness of all the staff in a very relaxed atmosphere . We all chose Roast beef & weren’t disappointed , I am famous for my roast dinners & this certainly was as good . There was a nice gesture when the waiter came round with extra roast potatoes & Yorkshire puddings. I can highly recommend The Fleece as a relaxing , friendly place to visit. Living in Oxford it was refreshing to visit a place that isn’t hostile to cars. There is even free parking!!!

    Ordered the courgettes with dip. The dish was huge and far too big for a small dish or plate. The rump steak was cooked exactly as ordered. .

    Great place for lunch. Food was delicious and great choice on the menu. Staff all friendly. Nice environment with nice outdoor space.

    I enjoyed my meal with my friend. The risotto was a little bit stodgier that I would normally like but it was still enjoyable. My mini dessert with coffee was the highlight however. I probably wouldn’t visit on a Friday during school holidays because the restaurant was very busy and loud. My friend is elderly and wears an hearing aid and the background noise interfered with her comfort. But she said she has visited on a day when it wasn’t so busy so I would probably choose the day more wisely in future. But overall a good experience.

    Excellent service from all staff at The Fleece. We were running late but this was no problem and they didn’t try to rush us. Food and wine was lovely and we would definitely return here again if we were in the area.

    We come to The Fleece, regularly. Very friendly, great food and lovely location. Highly recommend!
