Located 20yds from the beach in the beautiful seaside village of Sandsend, we’re just a short drive from the popular fishing town of Whitby, North Yorkshire.

We have a real love for the sea and pride ourselves in serving the finest, locally caught sustainable fish and seafood in a casual dining environment.

At Fish Cottage, we welcome the whole family to our seafood restaurant and that includes the four legged members too. So you can head off on a coastal adventure knowing that afterwards you can enjoy a delicious seafood supper all together at our dog friendly restaurant in Sandsend, Whitby.

Restaurant opening times: 11:30 am open, last seating 8 pm; Last orders takeaway Mon-Sun 8.00 pm

We don't take bookings for our outside areas, its on a first come basis.

    A thoroughly enjoyable evening in every way . Beautiful venue, lovely ambience and friendly professional staff .. food was excellent and offers good value for money . Impressed throughout, classy and unpretentious . Very impressed to see a selection of English wines on the menu and not overpriced, along with non alcoholic choices.

    The service was extremely slow, took 45 minutes to get our meal which was excellent when it arrived.

    Some years ago I had a delicious lemon sole here. The restaurant and location are still great and the service friendly, but what cannot be overlooked is that the fish cookery is awful. The halibut was dry, chewy and tasteless, having been very overcooked - not a good buy for £32. Monkfish was similarly overcooked. Other guests where I was staying reported a similar experience. A shame, some of what was on the plate was pretty and tasty. I should have sent the fish back, one expects that in a specialist fish restaurant, the fish cookery should be better than I would do at home. The oyster however was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The wine list is quite short but has some good options, especially as regards wines by the glass
