The Ferry Inn is a serendipitous country public house with welcoming staff, character rooms, candlelight, open fires, real ales, popular foods and fantastic sunsets.

A 17th Century former smugglers haunt-- this is a pretty little pub in a lovely marshland setting with tables and benches on the front terrace and in the back alongside the riverbank.

Inside it's very easygoing and chatty. The main bar has hop-draped painted beams, a green dado, and stools against the bar where they serve a beer called Oxney Ale specially brewed for the pub by Westerham Brewery.

To the right is a cosy eating area with wheelback chairs-- ideal for a banquette with friends around a few long tables.

Public transit
Bus 293 by Kent Coach Tours, Mon & Fri leaves Tenterden Town Hall at 10.30am. Return journey leaves Ferry Inn at 13.20pm. Ask Graham the driver to drop you off at the Ferry Inn and to stop and collect you on the way back. Adult return journey is £4.50, Children half-price.

Lovely pub great atmosphere not noisy not crowded lovely food, we had Roast which was a generous size with plenty of veg, service was quick and attentive but not overpowering, very lovely puddings of a generous size

Had a lovely lunch. Big portions. Had to be rolled out. Waiter was great. Left us to enjoy the meal but was there when needed.

A great lunch on a Monday. Busy, so glad we booked. Pork belly and scallops starters. Main course of steak pie. All very tasty. Service friendly and efficient.

Party of two. Both had the fish and chips - really lovely. Lovely popular pub in the countryside. Staff really friendly (Heather et al). Very dog friendly. Was lucky with the weather and nice to sit outside in the pub front garden.

We regularly enjoy our trips to the Ferry. Beer is good staff pleasant and burgers are excellent. Not a score of 5s this time after trying to change cream for ice cream with my sticky toffee pudding and told I would have to pay £1.60 for a scoop of ice cream instead of cream. This is the first time this has happened in scores of visits to the Ferry and indeed other pubs. So disappointed by this but the banoffee pudding ( without ice cream and surcharges) was very good. So it might be a while before we return.
