Inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Northern Italy, The Fat Ox brings a taste of the Italian Alps to our guests. Our name, "Fat Ox," pays homage to the robust flavors and hearty dishes found in Northern Italian cuisine. Symbolizing strength, endurance, and the bounty of the land, it reflects our commitment to serving exceptional meals crafted from the finest ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible and prepared with care & expertise. Our view for our guests is: We just want to have fun!

What a great addition to the main strip of Banff. Molly provided us with amazing service. Food is of an amazing quality. So fresh and tasty with a Canadian twist. We had the Oxboard as an appetizer which was a great way to begin. For mains we had the elk meatball spaghetti pomodoro, bison bolgnese tagliatelle, mushroom gnocchi and carbonara. Everything was phenomenal. Had to order another carbonara as my kids loved it. The dishes were all so good that our party of 6 had no consensus over which pasta was the best. We pretty much ate all the desserts and again they were all incredible. Definitely not to be missed when in Banff.

All I can say is WOW... We had Lamb shank, beef tenderloin, elk meatballs, Ceasar Salad, Gnocchi and it was all incredible! Our server was on top of all our needs.... Don't be swayed by any other restaurants in town, THIS IS DEFINITELY THE BEST!

We were seated at the bar. Food and drinks were yummy. Highly recommend the focaccia bread to start. We also had the caprese salad and Bison Tagliatelle Bolognese, they were both fantastic. We finished with sharing the sticky toffee pudding, which was more than enough for 2 to share. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Our party of four arrived early but we're seated without delay. Service was excellent and all our meals, starters, cocktails were very good. Only slight negative was that the restaurant was very busy (understandably for a Saturday night) and quite loud making it difficult to carry on conversation.

Our meal was great. I had the rag pasta with prawns and my husband had the Bison Tagliatelle. My rag pasta dish lacked a bit of flavour and had fairly heavy cream (just a bit too much cream) Our Server Nicky was a delight, professional, friendly and courteous. Could not ask for anymore from her. Excellent all round.
