The Farmhouse at Redcoats is set in a beautiful 15th century farmhouse and gardens nestled in the north Hertfordshire countryside. Sherwin Jacobs heads the kitchen and promises to deliver an experience you will not forget specialising in quality, fresh, local produce. Private dinning is available in the charismatic main house rooms. Please call us directly to book an afternoon tea, 24 hour notice is needed.

In the Farmhouse we have private dining options for parties up to 8, 12 and 16 people. Two with inglenook fireplaces perfect for family lunches, celebrations and festive gatherings. We also have meeting facilities available in some of the rooms, please give us a call to discuss. Across the courtyard we host much larger functions and weddings.

Nice venue. Lovely freshly prepared food with good quality ingredients. The rib eye steak in particular is highly recommended. Reasonably priced overall given the quality. Only grumble is that the service varied between efficient and friendly to forgetful. Also I dont think a venue in rural Hertfordshire should be adding on a 12.5% service charge by default, its not London! Overall I would recommend and if the service sharpened up I would give it 5 stars.

I reserved the farmhouse at Redcoats for a special New Year's Day dinner, but I was extremely disappointed when my steak was served cold and not cooked to my requested preference. It was very upsetting not being able to enjoy the New Year's dinner with my partner as we had planned.

Lovely food and excellent service once a new member of staff had taken over from the previous waitress who seemed to have disappeared. There was a little confusion about what sides if any would be included with our main courses. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Our new waitress was friendly and helpful with a smile at all times. We liked our table for 4 in the corner of the conservatory. A good restaurant to come to for a special meal!

Was given bread for the table by a man, manager maybe? Then another young guy brought us bread and I said we already had some, and were not eating the first lot, he said oh, well have it anyway instead of taking away Drinks took ages to arrive once ordered. Set one of mine back as too spicy, he made me cough non stop, replacement came, still wasn't nice, so left it and ordered something else. Starterswas nice. Mains, one nice and one was more a starter small size rather than a main meal. Expensive for what we had.

Lovely food and ambience. However unfortunately my partner felt really uncomfortable as a number of guests were staring at us which felt very unwelcoming. Both being people of colour this did affect our experience and meant that we left sooner than we’d hoped to. The waiter was helpful in moving us to a quieter part of the restaurant (the bar area) however another couple sat across from us shortly after and again we were met with stares. I understand this isn’t a fault of the restaurant but this is the experience we had and means that it’s unlikely we would return.

This is a lovely place. Great food, we had the scallops , hake, mussels and steak -all were delicious. The service is excellent - the staff were all lovely

Food was very good, service was very good but overall letdown was no vegetables whatsoever were served with the main courses. We ordered haunch of venison and turbot and expected some vegetables to be served with them but none came on the plates or served on the side.
