The last time we dined here, we were late because of traffic and was rushed to eat and run. They took care of us then and we did not miss our concert, so we wanted to try them again. This time, we had plenty of time and enjoyed having a more leisurely dinner. We both liked our entrees and took part of them home for a second meal. I had the half rack ribs and backed beans. The baked beans were more of a bean and vegetable soup than typical baked beans, but were still good. The meat came off the bones like good ribs should. My girlfriend had the brisket and also was able to take half home. I gave my mac-n-cheese to my girlfriend and she gave me her baked beans, so we both had some to take home. We will keep the Farmers Union on our downtown San Jose goto restaurants.

Service was amazing, great experience overall. It was a Monday, so the place was kind of quiet. Great location going out after!

We had early reservations before a show so the restaurant was not very busy. They have a fun outdoor patio w/ lots of umbrellas. We ordered an appetizer and drinks to start. Drinks were 1 hit (martini) and 1 miss (old fashioned). The calamari came out super hot but was really short on actual calamari in the mix. Entrees, french dip and fish & chips, came out next and seemed ok. French dip was decent but the fish was not fully cooked so the breading outside was very soggy. The fries on both were extremely under done....ok to eat but pretty oily and soggy. Not sure what happened there since the calamari was super hot. We didn't have time to wait around for a re-make. We offered to split the fish & chips w/ the restaurant since we did have a little bit of it. The waiter was very accommodating and remove the meal completely. Staff was terrific throughout our entire meal. Not sure we would return.

Service was fantastic. The hostess sat us outside first, per my request, but my colleague was cold so we moved back inside. I wish I knew our server’s name. The receipt shows Bar P. She was attentive, checking on us often, and refilling drinks when needed. The timing of the food coming out was great. The food was ok, nothing that stands out. We ordered the ahi tuna tartare and chicken wings for appetizers. We asked that the wings be made more crispy and the sauce on the side. My colleague and I had the beer battered and chips. The fish batter was oily and had a vinegar taste so I’m assuming they add the malt vinegar to it. I wish they hadn’t. The soggy fries could have been better. Overall, not returning for the food.

The service was horrible. It was a night of a popular artist concert and they were understaffed. I’m sure this restaurant and others close to the venue. Expect to have large crowd on concert night. They were under prepared. Took us 47 minutes to get our drinks ! Another 30 minutes for our food. And the bartenders and the servers were completely rude because they were so overwhelmed.
