Another wonderful meal at The Essex! The other couple had never been before but told us, “This has the reputation of the best fine dining on the Shoreline.” We had truly jumbo shrimp and scrumptious scallops yakatori for first course. We agreed the freshly baked rolls are some of the best we have ever tasted. For the second course we enjoyed the Fluke, swordfish, and halibut. All prepared and presented delightfully. We couldn’t resist adding their tasty pommes purée for the table.. We had room for dessert, and I highly recommend doing so. All four had something deliciously unique in flavor and they rounded out the meal perfectly.

Excellent food and drinks, very good service (though we sat at the bar), great small restaurant ambiance. However, pricing was way over the top ($250 for 2 people with 2drinks each with no dessert). We’ll only go back for special occasions.

We did the 5 and 7 course tasting. The amuse was our favorite course. For the price, we’ve had much better. But for this area, we really enjoyed it. We plan to come back and try individual dishes, as the tasting didn’t do it for us. We really think it has great potential though!

Food was excellent. Marcus our wait staff was very friendly and attentive. A wonderful experience.

We’ve lived globally and around the USA through a career in the military, and we always find “our spot” in the locales where we live. The Essex will be our new “spot” and we don’t plan on moving any more! Amazing service, cocktails were superb, the steak and the swordfish were perfect, and I loved the Lobster bisque. We can’t wait to go back!
