We have been going to the Eskdale several times now and thought it about time to leave a review! The service, food and drinks are fantastic. The steaks were cooked to perfection and is very good value for money! Highly recommended!

We had lunch with friends at this great restaurant mid week. Wonderful food and very good wine. The staff are friendly, helpful and informed. It’s also fortunate that we can get there and back on the train!

Had a really relaxed lunch at the Eskdale. We sat outside where we were served by a very friendly but professional waitress. The meal was excellent - the Goan style mussels, dirty burger and pannacotta were table favourites but the fish and chips and pork tenderloin were also very good. There was a good wine list and wide selection of hand pulled craft beers. The road noise was a little distracting but this is nit picking on what was overall an excellent experience and very good value. If you are looking for great food and friendly service this is the best place to find it in this area.

First time for lunch in Castleton, a place we know well. Glorious day set the scene for an excellent, friendly and tasty lunch. Hodgsons fish van (the postman pat of fish deliveries around the north east) had just arrived. Very good soufflé, pigeon, hake and mussels. Great value wine and good petit fours - the lemon shortbread the winner. Pudding next time.

Good quality food - staff always very friendly and accommodating - dog friendly. Great area for walking/ hiking and this is a great pub in which to recover !!

Truly amazing food at a very reasonable price with a warm welcome. A lovely location, the restaurant is beautifully set out with some really nice touches. Lovely beer garden at the rear looking over the river Esk. We can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Brilliant meal in a lovely location. We had two starters, four mains and two deserts, everyone said their food was excellent. The server was very friendly and attentive. We will be returning.
