We had the duck shepherds pie and the firemans board for mains, both were well presented and tasted lovely. The crispy potatoes were very tasty. The creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding were yummy too, again well presented. The staff who served us were friendly and professional.

The menu was half the size it was when it first opened. Very little choice for vegetarians or vegans. Little healthy food.

We ate at The Engine Room prior to going to the theatre. The service (from Caitlin) was really great, friendly and attentive. The food is reasonably priced, well cooked and nicely presented. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. We enjoyed the experience and will certainly come again.

We've tried a few times to dine here before shows at the Sunderland Empire but has always been fully booked. This time we booked ahead and seemed to time it just right as it started to fill up from 5.45/6pm. We both enjoyed our meals. Will certainly book again.

Lovely food and atmosphere. Booked 6pm before show in Theatre. Service was excellent even though it was full. Will definitely go back.

The food wasn't as good as usual being Sunday limited Sunday menu had Sunday dinner however roast potatoes horribly soggy and whole meal only just warm . The service by our waitress was excellent it saved the night .

The Sunday roast was amazing 10/10 the beef was so yummy. My hubby had the lamb and said it was delicious so yummy! The apple crumble was great as well. Overall I would go back again. Oh our waitress was fantastic.
