Set in the picturesque village of Abbots Ripton with access to beautiful walks on the local estate, The Elm has everything you want from your perfect countryside pub; A glorious garden, a roaring fire, comfortable rooms, delicious food and a wide selection of drinks.

The Grade II-listed building was built, as an open hall, in the late 15th Century to offer hospitality to the drovers bringing cattle down from Scotland (along the Bullock Road) to the market at St.Ives. It was later altered with the insertion of a brick chimney in the early 17th century. The Fellowes family, that own and run the pub, came to the area around the same time the pub got its chimney...

Superb friendly efficient service, we keep returning here as a result. The food was amazing and the rump steak was so succulent. Great portion sizes and we left feeling full. This place is brilliant, a real gem.

Lovely place and people were very friendly. We found the choice of food limited on starters and main courses. All cooked very well but inside there was little atmosphere. Outside there was a large covered area with cyclist, and motor cycle clubs meeting. A good meeting point for these.

Usual good meal and service, but meal options more limited than usual with no specials. Nothing on the main menu that attracted my wife but she was able to have a main-sized starter which she really enjoyed. Good food and service - also didn’t realise sparkling water is free 👍

We chose a nice table to sit at and waited patiently to be served. Our drinks and food eventually arrived and we could not fault our selection, it was delicious. Our steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. The wait staff were polite and friendly, but not very attentive and it took awhile for food and drinks orders to be taken…and arrive.

Excellent food, excellent service. Just may have been the day of the week but it all seemed a little too quiet. Surroundings were great, activities for children outside.

Great location. Usually great service but somehow was allowed to book a table with the venue also hosting what looked like a wake.

Stacey and her team are simply amazing and so patient the chefs are genius simple food but cooked and used prime quality food shoot the burger just melts in your mouth excellent parking facility and extremely easy access if you have a wheelchair and there is no potholes neither you can eat inside and our outside is just perfect the interior decor is exquisite is a such a relaxing place to go and kids can run in the garden too

We really enjoyed our visit to The Elm. It was relaxed and friendly. As we went at 2pm on Friday, the lunch service was coming to a close. The food, all different for our group of four was very good. The crispy panko egg was spectacularly gorgeous. All the main courses were lovely, my steak was well done although I had requested medium rare. That said,it was still tender as good quality meat. The orange creme brûlée with home made shortbread was a highlight to my meal. It was smooth, very well balanced, and the shortbread buttery,tender and unctuous. A very good experience.
