Welcome to The Elephant Restaurant
The Elephant is a bright, informal restaurant which is situated near the beautiful Torbay harbour. It was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally and sustainably, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham.

Run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy. Food is cooked by a talented team of chefs and served by friendly, professional team of staff.

Due to the style of cooking we cannot produce dairy free menus & therefore cannot provide vegan options.

A deposit is required to make reservations on special days of the year, on our special events, or for tables of 6 or more. This is paid over the phone by calling 01803 200044.

Children's menu is only available at lunch for ages 10 and under.

Tasting menu only available in the evening unless requested via phone in advance.

3rd time dining here and still superb. Food was delicious and well presented. Reasonable prices for wines and great service. We will continue to dine here when in this part of the country.

Excellent food. Well cooked and presented. Probably the best fish I’ve ever had. Service was excellent staff vey knowledgable about where the food is from. Everything was first class.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. So welcoming, extremely clean and well decorated with top class furnishing’s. Bathroom facilities are incredible too. As for the food and wine!? Wow, just wow. I’ve eaten and enjoyed dishes that I’ve never dared to try anywhere else. Thank you Simon, Kate and the team, for an outstanding experience on every visit. 😍

Relaxed setting, nice to have a la carte and tasting menu option. Staff were very happy to help and professional. The food was perfect. We had an amazing, very relaxed evening. Thank you

As always such a beautiful experience myself and my wife have been attending the elephant once a year for the past 5 years and have no intention in stopping. From the moment we entered the building to the moment we leave everything was just perfect the staff are very attentive nothing is too much trouble and the food is even better. Thank you to all and look forward to our next visit.

Disappointing experience for a Michelin starred restaurant. Food is technically cooked in the correct way, but misses originality and soul, which I would expect from a Michelin star kitchen. Very loud restaurant with more focus on drinking than on eating. When asked for the kind of grapes and background of the wine, the sommelier could not answer this. We ordered an extra plate of bread, which never came.
