Welcome to The Elephant Restaurant
The Elephant is a bright, informal restaurant which is situated near the beautiful Torbay harbour. It was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally and sustainably, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham.

Run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy. Food is cooked by a talented team of chefs and served by friendly, professional team of staff.

Due to the style of cooking we cannot produce dairy free menus & therefore cannot provide vegan options.

A deposit is required to make reservations on special days of the year, on our special events, or for tables of 6 or more. This is paid over the phone by calling 01803 200044.

Children's menu is only available at lunch for ages 10 and under.

Tasting menu only available in the evening unless requested via phone in advance.

The restaurant had a very light & airy interior, but with a cosy ambiance. There were some beautiful pictures & one which was bespoke for the owners,also the ornate wallpaper in the ladies caught my eye. The staff were exceptional & the taster menu exquisite.

After enjoying the evening tasting menu for my parents-in-law golden wedding anniversary, we returned to try the lunch menu for my 50th birthday. Once again, we were treated to an outstanding meal. Each course was a total delight, a beautifully presented range of interesting and complementary flavours. We had the wine flight as well and each was a wonderful pairing. And, last but not least, we were looked after throughout by the helpful and friendly Elephant team. If you're anywhere near Torquay, do yourself a favour and go!

Great food well presented with the necessary information on ingredients. Sd not to meet chef but guess even he is entitled to a break

Had the taster menu, and the food was all beautiful, with excellent wine pairings and at a reasonable price considering the quality of food and flavours. it's a lovely setting on the waterfront and the venue was lively enough without being too noisy - sometimes these restaurants can be a little like eating in a monastery so we were relieved that this wasn't like that. Couple of service issues - wrong wine with one course (we had to point that out) and one of the waiting staff trying to describe a component of a course and struggling but settling on "Green stuff", which seemed a bit of out kilter with the style of dining, but these were small niggles rather than anything major. Overall a lovely evening out and would visit again

An outstanding experience all round , we had not been for many years and it was even better than previously Welcome and service were excellent and the food was very much Michelin star standard Recommended
