We sat in the back patio located behind the Virginia hotel. I love it there because you are surrounded by plants and it is quieter there. Our meal was delicious and the service was perfect.

Note that if you Google Ebbitt’s Room, the menu that comes up is old. Prices are now about 30% to 50% higher depending on item. Furthermore, portions are relatively small and wine pour not generous.

Since my partner and I have both been in the service industry for a long time, we are aware we’re a bit more critical perhaps. To be fair, the server and maître d’ were lovely. But one of the things he and I commented on was the fact we’d put down that it was our anniversary, and no one commented on this. If someone goes out of their way to note a special occasion on their reservation, it means they’d like it acknowledged. It’s just a simple but nice gesture (I realize some guests may want something free from it, but most are excited and only wish to have their celebration acknowledged by the establishment). Secondly, while we’re aware business is probably always good, I imagine it exacerbates in the summer season. It may not make sense to bring in a sommelier just for summer, but if someone is willing to spend over $200 on a bottle, and it turns out you do not have the bottle they order, it’s good to have someone who can recommend something similar in the same price range rather than us having to google the bottle list. Finally, the food was fair. My partner felt that if you go out of your way to ask guests the temperature they prefer for their salmon, then cook it well done anyway, that’s fine but then it doesn’t make sense to ask. The ambiance was pretty, the cocktails very good (would definitely recommend to others for cocktails) and the establishment really lovely. We feel it can be so well done and only provide feedback- hopefully privately- to encourage the small details that do add up to a whole experience.

another excellent meal at The Ebbitt Room. good selection of inventive cocktails and wine assortment. Must try the deviled eggs and the heirloom tomato salad. Lots of special entrees but stuck with the scallops and duck breast. the donut dessert was a bit underwhelming but the after dinner cocktails were superb. Not inexpensive but a great meal!

This is our 3rd visit to the Ebbitt room this year and we are so pleased. The atmosphere, service, food and vibe never disappoints. Brought several friends for dinner and they were more than impressed. Kate our server went above and beyond to assure that our evening was perfect.

The Ebbitt Room was great! Food was outstanding , the outdoor garden was beautiful and the ambiance was great as well. Total bill was a bit pricey but it was a great experience overall. Highly recommended if you’re ever in the Cape May area and my fiancée and I will definitely be back!!
