Great food, fine ales, plenty of gin and a friendly atmosphere – what more could you want from a restaurant and country pub! 2024 has seen an extensive £150,000 refurbishment creating a stylish and contemporary restaurant & country pub..

Set in the tiny, picturesque village of Skipwith only ten miles south of York, it is the main destination inn in the area. The delicious created dishes on our menu are locally sourced and reflect the changing seasons, mirroring the wonderful walks to be found through Skipwith Common, right on its doorstep.

Had high hopes for lovely evening out menu looked nice unfortunately not the best we had. Battered squid and prawns were not lightly battered and very greasy. Steaks were dry and a bit chewy. We were also plagued by 2 flies buzzing around won’t rush back.

It’s the staff that make this place special. Really good service and really friendly. Food is good - but definitely peicey

This pub is a little gem Matt is a brilliant host his staff were very friendly and attentive.it topped off a brilliant Birthday weekend .⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Awesome food and service 100 % recommend. Marked down for noise due to barking dog in the pub. Birthday from the pub waiting on the table and also a desert plate with Happy Birthday written in chocolate with ice cream and fruit on it. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

People clearly work hard there to deliver top quality. We had the smallest of delays between my meal arriving and my husband a couple of minutes later. While not an issue for us .. the team had realised what happened , apologised and already taken our drinks off the bill. Great food and lovely place. Highly recommend will be back for sure

Entering into the restaurant it is clean and pleasant. The staff attentive and polite, keeping an eye out but not invading our time. We went here for an anniversary dinner, the staff had left a lovely card, a nice touch! and a complimentary dessert plate saying happy anniversary :) We enjoyed the food, it is fairly priced and nicely presented. I recommend the Batanberg cheesecake it’s yummy
