Great food, fine ales, plenty of gin and a friendly atmosphere – what more could you want from a restaurant and country pub! 2024 has seen an extensive £150,000 refurbishment creating a stylish and contemporary restaurant & country pub..

Set in the tiny, picturesque village of Skipwith only ten miles south of York, it is the main destination inn in the area. The delicious created dishes on our menu are locally sourced and reflect the changing seasons, mirroring the wonderful walks to be found through Skipwith Common, right on its doorstep.

Food and service were very good. Staff were very pleasant and looked after us well. The Droves is been decorated well and is a lovely Bar Restaurant. We will visit again if we are in the area.

Excellent for vegan Sunday roast, also catered for gluten free options. Fantastic service & friendly , knowledgeable staff.

Sunday lunch was disappointing. Expected much better. Prawn cocktail starter came with just a few small prawns and no crayfish as advertised on menu. Sent it back… Extremely small portion for £9.50 and a very small piece of bread. Poor presentation and def not value for money. The Sunday lunch was below average. Under done roast potatoes, awful cheap stuffing balls, beef was so stingy and chewy. Didn’t enjoy. Ginger Parkin for dessert was nice. Best thing about the meal! Would not return. Overpriced and overrated unfortunately.

Paul, thanks for taking the time to leave this review, Firstly i'd like to apologise regarding the starter- but when notified the crayfish was missing, a fresh dish was served to the table with immediate priority. Our Sunday roast is advertised (beef served pink) when beef is well done, the muscle fibers in the meat firm up & the juices cook out making it difficult to chew resulting in the beef to be exactly how you have described. ( I believe you were informed of this upon ordering) We have a huge choice on our Sunday menu to choose from, and would feel you would have benefited from a different choice. Feedback has been given to the kitchen regarding your review left on the Ginger Parkin dessert which we are thrilled about as its new to our menu Many thanks Jake Stephenson

I’ve been here before and sat outside which was lovely. Now it’s winter wanted to eat inside. It was nice but we were seated next to kitchen which was cold as door opening and closing all the time. We ordered the meat sharing platter and it was great but to nearly an hour to arrive. I really like this place and the food was very very good. Would I recommend it. Absolutely yes.

My friend and I meet periodically for a meal and catch up. We chose the Drovers as I had not been for a while and noticed the refurbishment on the website, so thought we would give it a go ! I’m so glad we did it’s a great pub, the refurbishment has made it even better, it is so inviting but still has original touches and the log fires 🔥 The meno is extensive and covers all palettes. The ambience and waiter service was very attentive and the food was excellent! Although be warned ! The Mac n Cheese main is huge so perhaps just have a main if you fancy this dish ! I took a doggy bag and I’ll be eating it for days !! I used to live near this pub in North Duffield in 2011, and have watched it grow from humble beginnings to what it is today ! I would highly recommend it’s a brilliant country pub and has the looks to match with great outdoor eating and venue for the summer and even outside areas when the sun shines! Apart from poor phone signal ( not the pubs fault) it’s Skipwith, in general it’s fabulous. Give it a try we will be back for sure ! Thank for a lovely evening.

Second visit to this lovely pub. Everything fine but yet again, the attitude of the staff lets it down slightly. No one smiles! The welcome, if you can call it that, was non existent. The young guy behind the bar looked as if he wasn’t expecting anyone to come through the door and seemed querulous. Both our waiters never smiled once. They are not impolite and quite attentive but do not make you feel welcome. Definitely needs attention guys.

This was our first visit to The Drovers Arms and we can highly recommend it. Online booking was easy, the staff are all friendly, pleasant and helpful. The environment was warm, comfortable and welcoming, especially near to the log fire. An extensive menu made our choice difficult. The drinks menu was also comprehensive. The food was perfectly cooked, and the presentation and service were excellent. All the staff went about their business in a calm, professional and efficient manner. When booking our table online I indicated that the meal would be for my birthday. I was greeted with a birthday card from all at The Drovers Arms. After our meal I was presented with large plate with Happy Birthday piped on it with chocolate and a small complimentary dessert. Both were very nice touches. We shall definitely be returning again and again. Highly recommended.
