Great food, fine ales, plenty of gin and a friendly atmosphere – what more could you want from a restaurant and country pub! 2024 has seen an extensive £150,000 refurbishment creating a stylish and contemporary restaurant & country pub..

Set in the tiny, picturesque village of Skipwith only ten miles south of York, it is the main destination inn in the area. The delicious created dishes on our menu are locally sourced and reflect the changing seasons, mirroring the wonderful walks to be found through Skipwith Common, right on its doorstep.

We had visited the Drovers Arms previously and thoroughly enjoyed it so decided to take some friends. However this visit was a bit disappointing. Of the three starters we had the onion bhajis were good but the trio of beets was a bit dry and could have benefitted from some dressing and the goats cheese was not what was expected. The main courses we had were three bean cassoulet, game pie, pheasant and gammon steak. The pie and cassoulet both seemed to be in the same sauce, the pheasant was good but needed some sort of sauce and the gammon was a bit fatty. The apple and winter berrry crumble for dessert was delicious. We will not be rushing back.

Amazing Sunday lunch! The Drovers' experience from start to finish is great. The ambience is welcoming and charming. The food, wine, and service are outstanding, and the staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. The food can’t get better, and the prices are fair for the portion size. It's always a great spot to get superb food, and of course, the colouring pencils to keep the little ones amused are a bonus :)

Visited for our anniversary today 1st visit to the venue Was greeted at the door by a very polite and friendly gentleman and seated immediately Drinks order and food order placed I was given a dirty started knife so had to swap it Took 25 minutes 2 recieved 2 starters, which where very tasty we got the meatballs and the pigs in blankets Would reccomend both dishes. The meatballs have a slight kick from the chorizo which was lovely. The mains arrived and this is where my day was flattened :-( Roat beef (listed as pink) was over cooked it still tasted nice but was disappointing as we travel all over for pink beef. You got 3 decent slices. Yorkshire pudding was cooked perfect soft and fluffy with flavour but apart from that it was poor, rich gravy was watery and slid off all food, vegetables were solid so I couldn't eat the brocoli or green beans, cabbage has a very harsh taste and the leeks were just Bland and soggy, I also was saddened there was no cauliflower cheese which others were getting. Roast potatoes I only got 2 of which just isn't enough and they were hard to cut. My partner got the lamb shank which he said the meat was soft and tastey and enjoyable but the mach was literally dry with chopped up broccoli inside it and nothing special. We overheard 2 other tables complaining about food whilst we was there. We passed on the deserts as we watched some come out and they didn't look anything special or plated in any way like other venues we've visited. We had to ask for the bill twice aswell as the 1st person never returned back to our table. Overall the visit was OK. The venue was very clean and well decorated I couldn't fault that. Food was a very unpleasant experience especially for a £70 bill

An excellent experience! Everything was so good! The extensive menu has some really interesting and rarely seen options, Isaac and his colleagues were very attentive and the food was of a very high standard. A must-visit restaurant!
