Great food, fine ales, plenty of gin and a friendly atmosphere – what more could you want from a restaurant and country pub! 2024 has seen an extensive £150,000 refurbishment creating a stylish and contemporary restaurant & country pub..

Set in the tiny, picturesque village of Skipwith only ten miles south of York, it is the main destination inn in the area. The delicious created dishes on our menu are locally sourced and reflect the changing seasons, mirroring the wonderful walks to be found through Skipwith Common, right on its doorstep.

Met friends for lunch. Service exceptional. Was a bit noisy but only due to a large Christmas lunch so actually got us in the festive spirit. Food wonderful. Staff attentive and accommodating. Lovely atmosphere. Will book again.

Excellent service, cosy and stylish pub with delicious food! Staff were incredibly patient with a family member that has health issues which can cause issues and not the easiest to please. Tried the festive pizza with gravy dipping sauce and it was amazing!!! Thank you for such a lovely family Christmas meal and for going above and beyond with your excellent customer service! Your patience is greatly appreciated, you have some amazing front of house staff as well as excellent food!

Absolutely fabulous festive meal. The food and service were both excellent. We had a lovely time and will definitely be going back again.

The lunch me ur was value for money . However, I found a hair in my pudding . I received a half hearted apology. The pan fried pork my friend had was over cooked .

Always enjoyed eating here, there is a great selection of gins and was wanting to see what it was like after a facelift as hadn’t been for a while! The new interior looks great and staff are very attentive! Only let down on this occasion was the food! I had crispy beef on the set Xmas menu which was very dry and not a lot of flavour, and quite flourey. The flat bread was also dry and there was no sauce to give it flavour and only a sprinkling of lettuce. My partners turkey was ok, pretty standard Xmas dinner but nothing outstanding! We did however both enjoy the ham hock terrine starter Sorry 😔

Had a super meal, in an extremely convivial environment. We ate of the daily, short / fixed price menu and were very impressed.

I’ve been here a few times and each time the service and food is spot on. This time we visited as a work lunch for Christmas and it didn’t disappoint. Service was prompt and friendly and the food, as always, amazing. Highly recommended this place.

The food was delicious spoilt for choice regarding the menu the service was great lovely atmosphere all in all an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend and definitely going back 10/10
