Kieran, Dallas, and the team welcome you to our beautiful pub. Recently refurbished, the Devonshire sits right in the heart of Hartington, the beautiful village at the northern end of Dovedale in the scenic and ever popular Derbyshire Peak District.

The Devonshire Arms is the perfect place to stop and relax whilst visiting the area for a tasty lunch, whether by yourself or with friends and family. We serve a delicious seasonal local menu with something for everyone. From the bar you’ll find a range of cask ales, craft beer, lager and cider alongside an extensive selection of wines, gins and soft drinks.
We do not take bookings for lunch Mon-Sat, we operate a walk in service only.

What a find! Lovely setting, welcoming staff, cosy surroundings, great food, perfect place to eat in Hartington or just to relax with a few drinks either inside or on a sunny day outside watching the world go by.

Went on a date here and the atmosphere was lovely, inside and out. The lady behind the bar was all on her own but she was friendly and polite the whole time.

hi over all the food was good .the main thing was just about everything was sold out this included cider on tap ,pan-fried mushrooms with Stilton and garlic sauce, Stilton burger , herb new potatoes and we ordered fresh veg with one of the meals which was a bit of a joke when it was cabbage with one slice of carrot in the middle most of the lads said after a hard days biking the portion of lasagne and shepherds pie were a bit small

They were busy and did well to accommodate us although I’m not sure why we weren’t placed on two tables next to each other given that we had given at least 7 days notice of final numbers. We discovered that if you don’t specify that the children are ordering from the children’s menu, they are served and charged for adult portions. We managed to negotiate on this but it left a bit of a sour taste all round with neither waitress or customers feeling very happy. There were also items on the bill that needed to be voided because we hadn’t ordered so check your bill carefully before paying. Food was decent pub grub and good portions. Possibly a better place to try on a week day when they are not so busy.

The choice was good and they had everything we asked for. All the food was really tasty. The cherry sundae was a perfect end to the meal, however, the cookie dough dessert although delicious was too big for one person.

Nice pub friendly staff but the food mediocre. Ordered steak and chips x2 with sides of onion rings as well as a starter each of mushrooms in garlic and Stilton sauce with a bottle of wine. The starter was very tasty but unfortunately not enough sauce, the steak perfectly cooked for the both of us and they were both really nice cuts of meat and thick and tender, unfortunately we were advised that they had ran out of onion rings which is very poor at 7:30 on a Friday night. The chips were absolutely pathetic they were very thin with very little taste and not what you would expect when paying £18 for a steak. Would visit again for a drink but not for food

Spotlessly clean. Food great. My only gripe would be having to go to bar to order food and drinks. Staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Have been here many times before. However this time we felt the welcome very poor. The food was ok Placed on table that was it!! Nobody checked if we needed anything, took plates away no communication, nothing! So sad as we loved the atmosphere of this place but it felt as atmospheric as a fast food restaurant this time.

I obviously chose a bad night, as the OpenTable booking system had crashed and the staff were in chaos. Took 45 minutes to get seated, then another 30 minutes to receive my food. Not the pub's fault about the system crash, but the vibe of the place was bad, with stressed staff running round. I wasn't impressed with the meal particularly, nor the choice on the menu. Boring pub food. Much preferred the other place in the village.
