"The Cygnet at The Swan" is an award winning restaurant led by Paul Welburn (previously awarded Michelin star at The Oxford Kitchen 2018). We have currently been awarded "3AA Rosettes" since being open, as well as both local awards "Ox in a Box" and "Muddy Stilettos Best Restaurant" awards.

We are open from Wednesday to Saturday, bookings are encouraged but not necessary. Our style is a "relaxed fine dining" always looking out for our guests comfort and experience.

Our food is a fusion of British cuisine with Paul's personal twists.
We offer our signature 4 course tasting menu for the evening (or lunch, just ask us) using seasonal ingredients.
Our menu can be enjoyed with matching wines handpicked by the restaurant staff.
Our menu is everchanging with the seasons, so there is always a reason to visit again!
We also offer our grazing menu for all lunchtimes and some evenings, with a selection of smaller and larger plates, ordered and served as and when for a more relaxing style.

Our signature tasting menu - £69 Our menu is everchanging, and we always look to offer something special and different to our new and returning guests. Please make us aware of any dietary requirements before arriving at our restaurant, as we may not be able to effectively cater for you without notice. We have a vegetarian menu available for our guests, but are currently unable to cater for vegans. Our lounge is open from 6pm, should you wish to arrive before your booking time and enjoy a drink on the sofa.

Service is hospitable, decor is poor, food is mixed: salmon and desert were superb, duck was tough, chicken cake pedestrian. Value for money poor. The whole place does not seem cheerfull.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant with sublime food. We felt the tasting menu was very good value - in many places you get barely anything to eat for extortionate prices, but this was different. Would thoroughly recommend this fine dining experience.

We chose the grazing menu and was not disappointed. One pescatarian one meat eater - all expertly presented and beautifully cooked. Desserts were outstanding!

We paid for fine dining but only one of the dishes really fitted this description, the desert. All the other items on the vegetarian menu were very dull and not memorable. The food looks much better than it tastes. The desert proves that the chef knows how to cook so we wondered if he was punishing us for being vegetarian! The music was too loud.

Service was exemplary and the food both looked and tasted sensational. We opted for the grazing menu on a weekday evening and the combination of snacks and small plates did not disappoint. The bite-sized snacks were delicate yet delightful, and the larger 'small plates' were generously portioned, despite the concept of ordering two or three per person. I heartily recommend the 'Crispy Pig' bonbons and the 'Black Cow custard creams' (although they looked more like Oreos to me!) from the snacking menu — I would come back for these two dishes alone. The small dishes were more like large starters, and two of these plus the snacks left us feeling as full as if we'd had a tasting menu! We rounded off our medley with the Cotswold bread and handmade whipped butters, which were equally exquisite. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

What a fantastic experience! The cocktails were incredible (when they were busy the bar tender even came over to take a drinks order for us) and the food was out of this world!! Get in before the inevitable Michelin star comes and the wait list becomes long. We had the set menu with the unbelievable cheese course added (a must!) and all four of us loved everything. A special mention to our waitress whose name I have forgotten but she was fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly and all whilst having an injury and hobbling! We will 100% be back, and hopefully soon!

We had a weekend in Oxford for my other half’s birthday and I found this restaurant on a search engine. We arrived just before the rush of the dinner service. The food was excellent and presented well. The waiting staff were very attentive but we did find that the courses were almost rushed. Almost as soon as our plates were cleared from one course, the second course was presented. It didn’t mar the experience though. Highly recommend the establishment.

We had a HAIR in our dessert. So off putting. It was assumed that we would still pay in full until we asked for the bill to be reviewed. It made us feel unnecessarily awkward and totally ruined the end of an otherwise delicious meal. Inside is nicely decorated. It’s warm and welcoming and a total transformation from before BUT the arrival from the car park to the steps is scruffy and lets down the high price tag venue.
