"The Cygnet at The Swan" is an award winning restaurant led by Paul Welburn (previously awarded Michelin star at The Oxford Kitchen 2018). We have currently been awarded "3AA Rosettes" since being open, as well as both local awards "Ox in a Box" and "Muddy Stilettos Best Restaurant" awards.

We are open from Wednesday to Saturday, bookings are encouraged but not necessary. Our style is a "relaxed fine dining" always looking out for our guests comfort and experience.

Our food is a fusion of British cuisine with Paul's personal twists.
We offer our signature 4 course tasting menu for the evening (or lunch, just ask us) using seasonal ingredients.
Our menu can be enjoyed with matching wines handpicked by the restaurant staff.
Our menu is everchanging with the seasons, so there is always a reason to visit again!
We also offer our grazing menu for all lunchtimes and some evenings, with a selection of smaller and larger plates, ordered and served as and when for a more relaxing style.

The food was amazing and the wine flight was delicious. So much so that I ordered a case of one of the reds once we got home. We will definitely be back.

We were excited about going to the Swan having read some enthusiastic reviews. However on arrival it seemed that our server was unable to adequately explain the items on the grazing menu. The crispy pig comprised 3 1-2cm cubes of shredded pork in breadcrumbs: needed 2 plates for 4 of us to partake. The bread was ok but not a selection of different types and the marmite butter tasty but not unusual. For a second course we had sirloin. Again our server couldn’t tell us what type of sirloin: roast, steak or other. In fact it was small portions of fillet not sirloin at all. Crispy potatoes for two to share comprised 6 chips, 3 each, in a tasty gravy. Desert at £15 was effectively £7.50 a mouthful and not earth shattering. All in all, a meal for 2 with a half bottle of wine and 2 beers was £175: outrageous and over rated.

An array of wonderful choices —meat, fish and vegetarian; and all of us were delighted with our respective choices. They were uniformly delicious, surprising (beetroot risotto? wow!; creme brûlée with apricot ice cream and pistachio marzipan?! -yummy and lovely to look at), and filling. After three beautifully presented courses, we felt utterly replete, and pampered. We enjoyed the atmosphere, too. Lots of fellow diners, many of them friends and acquaintances.

Me and my partner agreed it’s the best food we have had. All courses were delicious and the cocktails/mocktails were divine!

We were seated in the Majlis Lounge, a relaxed area of the restaurant and chose from the grazing menu. There was a good selection of dishes: all delicious and very imaginatively presented. You could see into the kitchen and watch the chef at work. The service was attentive and informative.

An interesting venue with a large barn conversion room as the main dining room. Noise levels were very high even though the dining room was relatively empty on a Friday night? The food was well presented but not to my taste although the canapés were very nice. For four courses for two people, the bill came to almost £200 with only a couple of drinks, I think this is expensive.
