"The Cygnet at The Swan" is an award winning restaurant led by Paul Welburn (previously awarded Michelin star at The Oxford Kitchen 2018). We have currently been awarded "3AA Rosettes" since being open, as well as both local awards "Ox in a Box" and "Muddy Stilettos Best Restaurant" awards.

We are open from Wednesday to Saturday, bookings are encouraged but not necessary. Our style is a "relaxed fine dining" always looking out for our guests comfort and experience.

Our food is a fusion of British cuisine with Paul's personal twists.
We offer our signature 4 course tasting menu for the evening (or lunch, just ask us) using seasonal ingredients.
Our menu can be enjoyed with matching wines handpicked by the restaurant staff.
Our menu is everchanging with the seasons, so there is always a reason to visit again!
We also offer our grazing menu for all lunchtimes and some evenings, with a selection of smaller and larger plates, ordered and served as and when for a more relaxing style.

Our signature tasting menu - £69 Our menu is everchanging, and we always look to offer something special and different to our new and returning guests. Please make us aware of any dietary requirements before arriving at our restaurant, as we may not be able to effectively cater for you without notice. We have a vegetarian menu available for our guests, but are currently unable to cater for vegans. Our lounge is open from 6pm, should you wish to arrive before your booking time and enjoy a drink on the sofa.

What a fantastic experience! The cocktails were incredible (when they were busy the bar tender even came over to take a drinks order for us) and the food was out of this world!! Get in before the inevitable Michelin star comes and the wait list becomes long. We had the set menu with the unbelievable cheese course added (a must!) and all four of us loved everything. A special mention to our waitress whose name I have forgotten but she was fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly and all whilst having an injury and hobbling! We will 100% be back, and hopefully soon!

We had a weekend in Oxford for my other half’s birthday and I found this restaurant on a search engine. We arrived just before the rush of the dinner service. The food was excellent and presented well. The waiting staff were very attentive but we did find that the courses were almost rushed. Almost as soon as our plates were cleared from one course, the second course was presented. It didn’t mar the experience though. Highly recommend the establishment.

We had a HAIR in our dessert. So off putting. It was assumed that we would still pay in full until we asked for the bill to be reviewed. It made us feel unnecessarily awkward and totally ruined the end of an otherwise delicious meal. Inside is nicely decorated. It’s warm and welcoming and a total transformation from before BUT the arrival from the car park to the steps is scruffy and lets down the high price tag venue.

The food was amazing and the wine flight was delicious. So much so that I ordered a case of one of the reds once we got home. We will definitely be back.

We were excited about going to the Swan having read some enthusiastic reviews. However on arrival it seemed that our server was unable to adequately explain the items on the grazing menu. The crispy pig comprised 3 1-2cm cubes of shredded pork in breadcrumbs: needed 2 plates for 4 of us to partake. The bread was ok but not a selection of different types and the marmite butter tasty but not unusual. For a second course we had sirloin. Again our server couldn’t tell us what type of sirloin: roast, steak or other. In fact it was small portions of fillet not sirloin at all. Crispy potatoes for two to share comprised 6 chips, 3 each, in a tasty gravy. Desert at £15 was effectively £7.50 a mouthful and not earth shattering. All in all, a meal for 2 with a half bottle of wine and 2 beers was £175: outrageous and over rated.

An array of wonderful choices —meat, fish and vegetarian; and all of us were delighted with our respective choices. They were uniformly delicious, surprising (beetroot risotto? wow!; creme brûlée with apricot ice cream and pistachio marzipan?! -yummy and lovely to look at), and filling. After three beautifully presented courses, we felt utterly replete, and pampered. We enjoyed the atmosphere, too. Lots of fellow diners, many of them friends and acquaintances.
